VW T3 camper
Hi Guys
I think this is where it should go.
Im building this for a friend who has his own caravan + motor home repair shop in County Durham, i went to his place a couple of years ago and thought a custom built model would look great in the reception area but back then I wasn't very good at painting so I had to wait till I had more experience.
I ordered the kit the other night and collected it from the post office today.
My plan is to create some decals of his company logo and some of the product manufacturers to decorate the outside and to also add some details inside. Not decided on the colour scheme yet but it will be having some different wheels and depending on how high it sits It maybe lowered too.
I plan on taking it to his in a month or so when I go up
So onto the pictures.
Was a little disappointed when I opened the box as Revell had kindly sent me a marked body, but no biggie its already repaired.

Cool, a VW Westie! Not something you normally see in a kit, fascinating. I'll be watching this with interest.

Cool kit. We in the U.S. rarely see Euro-Revells. Have fun with it!

Echo - that is one nice colour! And the rippling doesn't seem too bad in the photos, should be easy to deal with

Nice colour Ash.
How about slamming it into the weeds?

Im in for this one Ash, and I agree with everyone about the colour. Im sure you'll sort the finish out although as Kats said, it doesn't look that bad in the pics.

Re: VW T3 camper
Don't fret about the orange peel Ash, a few coats of clear and you'll be gold. If I can suggest,(without trying to sounding like one of "those guys") if you don't already have some, invest in some 2part (actually 3parts; clear, catalyst, reducer) automotive poly-urethane. Most auto paint supliers will sell you some in half quart tins.
Easiest stuff in the world to spray, goes over everything and can be used as a barrier between different paints, ie, enamel, acrylic, or lacquer. The best part I really dig about this stuff is that it provides an awesome super glossy, glass smooth finish. Down side, if you for what ever reason you have to rub it out it does not polish back upto it's factory gloss. It is still super smooth and glossy, just that it looks like every other gloss clear.
Sorry if you already know this about urethane, don't want to seem like a blowhart here. Just sharing info.
Can't wait to see how this turn out.

Two things,
1.Real modern vehicles have orange peel............
2.P.U. Is nice stuff, you can get it in 200ml bottles and it goes a long way!
