Replating Bumpers
The '69 Olds 442 restoration is stalled, I need the bumpers replated. I've found a bloke in the USA who does them, can anyone suggest
an alternative?
Body colour is not an option, I like chrome bumpers.
Cheers,
Chris

i remember seeing something similar being used a couple of years ago......her off the telly that does the interior design stuff, that bought and did up that old stately home, forget her name now........she was trying to do it all on the cheap, had these old taps for the bathrooms that she liked the style of but they were brass and she wanted chrome (typical woman!).....this feller turns up with a gizmo like this and she was sceptical so to prove it worked he took the case off her phone and plated that in front of her.....then did the taps....looked great once he had done it

I believe you can still send them to Modelhaus to have them re-plated.

Re: Replating Bumpers
I would like to suggest the Alclad II system for re-chroming your bumpers. Process is quite easy, paint bumper with Testors high gloss black, let dry, put some Alclad II chrome lacquer in airbrush and apply at 12 psi. Just wisp it on, do not over do or dull aluminum will be the result. Alclad makes many metallic products and candies, etc. Please Google their web site for more info. I give Alclad credit for making it possible for creating scale chrome on my car models. Before, to me, kit chrome looked toy like and I wanted to build my models to look as realistic as possible.
Cheers Eh!

The Alcad does work well and they have a clear now that protects it so it doesn't rub off with handling.
