Spare a thought for us guys. Update: June 15th
..... Some of you know that our house was was flooded with river water back in January 2005.
Well it happened again yesterday and we took in two feet of dirty stinking water to the ground floor despite sandbagging all the doors etc!!
Our internet access is down so I'm using a friends in the village, This means I won't be posting much but I'll try to keep you updated every couple of days via my friends web access.

Sorry to hear about your flooding. It is a bit far to come to help out, but I will be thinking of you and hope for the best.

Sorry to hear that Al. I wish I was there. This is just the type of work I do. Restoration from water damage, mold, smoke and odors.
PM me if you need any advice.

Not again Al!!! I'm so sorry I can't be there to help Bro. Is there anything that can be done from a long distance? You and Justine will be in our prayers whether you like it or not. Patricia send her love. John

Re: Spare a thought for us guys. Update: June 15th
Thanks guys.
My internet connection won't be back up for a few days and I'm having to use that of a friend. As soon as mine is back up again, I'll post some photos!
On the plus side, I managed to rescue all my completed models in my display cabinets. Well, need to get the priorities right....... right? LOL
Onwards and upwards!!

Having e-friends all over, I am more aware of weather. I saw the forecast a while back for the NW and had that sinking feeling. So sorry it hit you again. My thoughts are with you. Cleanup is hell, I've done a few muddy basements in my time. Here's to better days ahead!

I've been rereading old mystery, "THE NINE TAILORS" about murder in the fen country. Flooding figured in the tale. I hope your battle with water ends soon.

Re: Spare a thought for us guys. Update: June 15th
Thanks for all the good wishes and kind thoughts guys, they really do mean a lot.
We took in the same two feet of black water back in 2005 Paul and the repartations too over eleven months!!
I appreciate that Mitch.
Blue was in his stable and had to stand in several inches of water for a few hours until I was able to get to him but he's a hardy west European work horse and he is fine. On the upside, he has nice clean feet now. LOL
As last time Colin it was up on axle stands and only took in about 2/3 cm of water. Now drained away....
it will be fine. Onwards and upwards bonnie lad.
Nothing at all John, just keep us in your thoughts. I'll be in touch via Skype as and when.
The river is well down now and although we have had more rain, it's not got anywhere near flooding again. More
rain forecast though.
To put it into a bit of perspective, we had over 350mm (about 13.5") of rain fall in the preceding 24 hours!!
MY land line an internet connection is still down but at the suggestion of a member on another site, I have bought a dongle thingummiejig which has go me back on line with my laptop, although I can't get it to work with my desktop yet!!
Here are a few few photos for you:

Re: Spare a thought for us guys. Update: June 15th
So sad to see. Memories of me cleaning up my neighbor's basement...twice! The thought of the smell (not really earthy, but swampy) makes me gag. Take your time, they say one benefit of age is wisdom that we can survive and return. May the bad days pass into memory soon and lives get back to normal.

Re: Spare a thought for us guys. Update: June 15th
Unbelievable.....but hopefully the spirits you salvaged are helping to keep yours up.
We are going through a bunch of storms right now and having lots of flooding, slides, and trees down. Fortunately we are on higher ground than you.
