The High Plains Drifter
...... although this AMT kit was marketed as a Vega, it is actually a 1978 Monza S Hatchback ............ and although it was marketed as a Pro Stock, it couldn't be in that class because of the blower and injector not being allowed in Pro/S ............ so I built it as a Sportsman racer from the Texas Panhandle (the "High Plains") ........... box stock AMT kit (with the exception of the manifold and carbs), Testors Wimbledon White lacquer, Slixx decals

Re: The High Plains Drifter
Memories of Early Pro Stock racing. When all the cars had 4 speed transmission, before the Lenco even came down the road. Memories of Bill Jenkins. Nice work and thanks \.

Re: The High Plains Drifter
Who would have thought a white car with a few decals could look as good as that.
There's certainly a little "special something" that comes from the shape, stance, wheels etc that make it look so neat and tidy.
Good job matey

White tornado! Big engine in a very small car, always very fast...if you can keep it in a straight line! As mentioned at a different site, it is one of the later Vegas, the "C" pillar rear window support and louvered spot are the giveaways. Thanx again, and for bringing it to this forum too.

Nice crisp build. Where did you source your S/G window decals from. I build a lot of super gas class cars.

I'm with Colin on this one too. Simple but all the small things done right really give it a nice look.

Those class letters and numbers come on a Slixx "goodies" sheet
