Tamiya mini .... pickup.
Got yet another one of these (might just as well buy about half a dozen cos i have loads of ideas for them)
This time it's going to be a Pickup ...... Electric (yep you read it right) .... and hopefully a nice bright yellow
Done some research on elastictrickery cars and it seems theyre quite simple from a modelers point of view ... batteries/motor etc
it's a bit of scratch building at the end of the day and it keeps me sane lol

Re: Tamiya mini .... pickup.
Ta muchly chaps
got the rear of the cab attached, need to trim and sand to shape when fully cured
got the front suspension and running gear installed, no drive shafts because .........................
................. it's rear wheel drive. got the components from the spares box to make the drive shaft, differential and the electric motor assembly.
wheels done (mazda i think) ... slightly over sized so will have some wheel arch trimming to do and make up some spats to be road legal lol

Re: Tamiya mini .... pickup.
Thanks guys
Yep Chris the batteries are going under the bonnet.
Got the interior under way ..... chequer plate is the off cuts from medication strips and i've added a few chips here and there for a bit of "use"
steering wheel ... very fine brush, steady hand (no coffee) and purpose modeling specs lol
the rear diff, motor and speed controller assembly (well as close as)

Cheers Buck
Just made a decision that the Mazda wheels and tyres are just too big and look a bit daft so i'll be going with the original wheels (more in keeping with an electric car anyway... saving weight and all that ) and just space them a little to give it a bit more of a "truck stance"

Re: Tamiya mini .... pickup.
Chris ... yes its the original trailing arm ... easiest solution and looks about right to images i researched.
Andy....... thanks .... a couple of "moments" have occured though .. see below.
Looking quite swish
Then aaaaaarrrrgggghhhhh !!!!!!!
Because i have added the truck cab rear and a bed to the kit therefore glueing it solid. the natural flex has now gone so there's little to no way of widening the body to get the chassis in.
then i noticed this
will be filling it with paint (as in 1:1 touchups) and then cut it back flat .
First lot of paint filler
