Mercedes 300SL - Tamiya 1/24
Hi chaps.
My first build on here which is probably a kiss of death for it.
First glance inside the box, Tamiya's usual shoddy presentation. ;)
Welcoming any interested parties...

Thanks!
As with all Tam kits, especially the new molds, the engineering is nothing short of fantastic.

I've seen that kit in person and it's a fantastic kit. I'm sure you'll do it justice.

Funny it took Tamiya so long to do one. I see opening doors, this should be something special.

Chaps, we're off.
First twelve parts form the basis of the beautiful spaceframe chassis.
Despite its complex appearance, it all fits perfectly.
Cheers!

Re: Mercedes 300SL - Tamiya 1/24
This looks great. Very nice chassis. This may be a model I might have to get, so I will be watching.
In my humble opinion, I think the 300SL gullywing is one of the best all time classic cars. I drool over one whenever I see one in person. Of course I used to work for Daimler, and got to sit in one in the lobby of the Styling department in Sindelfingen, Germany. I was in heaven!!

Re: Mercedes 300SL - Tamiya 1/24
My heavens, that's a beautiful chassis! If one looks closely, the side tubes there for rigidity, and they are the reason for the gullwing doors.
It's my guess the convertible (with normal doors) probably has more metal and weight to get similar strength. What a beautiful kit!

Re: Mercedes 300SL - Tamiya 1/24
Hi guys, thank you.
Webby, gonna be very boring and do a stock build, I would like at some time to get another and add different wheels etc. etc. but this time I'm just going to enjoy the build.
The only slight deviation will be the body colour, I haven't completely decided but it is likely not to be a Mercedes colour but it will be in keeping with the car.

Re: Mercedes 300SL - Tamiya 1/24
Is there any color other than SILVER for a Mercedes?
When I had a C300 company car, it always had to be silver!!! Their Iridium Silver is just awesome in the sun.
