Chevy II Pickup ??
Going to try and see if I can get another build completed.
I started this Kit a long time ago but put it a side. Wasn't sure I liked where I was going with it but decided it needs to get done.
It's a bit edgy and in your face but here it goes...
I made some new spindles to get the drop I was looking for. Still figuring out the back end.
Plumbed the master cylinder and have the steering box installed...

Looks good The only thing I don't much care for is the hood scoop, just looks out of place with the body style and a road car, just my 2 penny's worth

I'm with John on the scoop. Other than that I love it. A Chevy II ute. Did you convert it from a
1966-67 2 dr hardtop, or is it a resin body?
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
"Cut rate Camino" looks excellent. That year Nova's sharp edge angular lines lend themselves to a mini hauler. Even if it were as a stock home built ranch Ute, it would be good. Great thinking!

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
Thank you for your comments and input. I used the 1966 Pro Street kit. It's a fantastic kit with nice detail.
I was able to leave the entire chassis stock. All that was needed was the back window parcel shelf to be shortened. Things worked out fantastic.

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
I also like the fact that it's tubbed. Will you build it as a Pro-Street type car? Love that Steam roller look. Any thoughts on an engine yet?

Interesting concept Brent.
I may be showing my ignorance here but since it's tubbed and will have massive slicks on the rear, isn't it a race car?

Al, thats where the term "pro-street" came from. It is the race car look, but the car meets all the legal requirements for being driven on the street.

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
Pro-Street cars don't all have Drag Slicks on the rear but they do all have a huge tire. I know that Mickey Thompson Tires makes DOT tires up to 19 inches wide and 32 inches tall. The NHRA Pro-Stock Class of Drag Racing is what started the look. Looks like a Pro-Stock Car but is 100% Street legal. Hope this helps you some Al. "If you can turn Left you ain't going fast enough"

Just wondered if it should be in Race Cars is all. No biggie.

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
It is "tubed" but the tires and wheels I am using lead it to be more of a street car. Could go either way I guess. I guess it could go in the "Truck" section as well ;-)
I got the rear end widened and installed. The height worked out perfectly so I didn't have to mess with that. Love it when things work out.
Mock up of the side exhaust set up. Left long as I am not sure how I will run it all together at the moment.
With the pipes pushed forward (when they get installed properly) they will be totally even with the body.
Stance.

Brent: You have a great concept going here. I do fall into the anti-scoop bunch though. It kind of overrides the other design elements in my humble opinion. It's your project though, make yourself happy.

I think that when the wing gets installed, it will balance out the scoop and pull the whole thing together.

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
With the wing on the back, the tubbed rear, and the overall look, I like the over-the-top hood. It just adds to the "go-fast" appearance of the model. I like it Brent!!

That hood thing is a tough call. I think they both look good. The look might change with paint. Maybe paint them both and then decide.

Re: Chevy II Pickup ??
In real life the "wing" may be necessary. For a model it makes it less a "street" machine than a racing one that's not on the street. Hood 3 looks the best. Just my view as an old guy.
