New to Skid's from So Cal
Hi All,
I found this forum a bit by accident, only to find my good friend Paul (2whl) has been a moderator all along! Paul and I hang out at the shows here in Southern California and usually travel together to the NNL West and other events.
I'm a car guy, and I especially like race cars, but I got started hanging out at the Temecula Valley Model Club about 6 years ago. TVMC has members of all disciplines, so I can really appreciate other subject matter, and it has enabled me to learn some things I might not have otherwise.
I have what seems to be a fairly common story, where I loved building models as a kid, then picked it up again some 25 years later. Now I've been into it head first for about 6 years and have really enjoyed it. Going to shows locally, and even around the country a little, has led me to make friendships in the hobby that I truly value. It's an aspect of the hobby I didn't expect, but people I now call some of my best friends are folks I met in the modeling community.
Anyway, I really look forward to hanging out here a bit. You'll likely find me over in the car section! Here's a link to my first WIP post of my current build.

Hi Art, and welcome to Skid's Place. I have been a member for some time, and the guys here are great, and it has a amazing amount of talent. You will enjoy it and fit in great.
I met you several times ago at the GSL in Salt Lake, along with John Teresi. I will be going again in 2015, and will be bringing the Sterling Pike's Peak race truck. It is mostly scratch built out of brass, like your recent post. By the way, your midget looks fabulous.
Welcome again, and good to see you here!!!

Thanks for the welcome, guys!
Pete, I remember meeting you for sure, and I already saw the great progress you're making on your Pike Peak truck. Looks fantastic! Is the Baja Buggy out here as well?

Welcome aboard Art. If you make it to GSL this year look me up. I will hopefully have my Frenchie's diorama entered, but will be there whether or not. I lived in Hemet for almost 20 years so maybe we will have some common experiences; I assume you are in the Riverside County area. In any event, looking forward to seeing your work.

Hi John,
Yes, I'm in Temecula, Riverside County. I've been here about ten years.
I'm planning to be at GSL. I've been to the last two and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to getting back there again, and we'll make a point to meet! I haven't seen your diorama yet, but if it's on here, I'll look it up.

Hi Art,
Welcome to the forum Sir, they're a mad lot in here, but very friendly and extremely talented, I have been learning a lot since I joined, still yet to try some of the things though...
Anyway, do have fun and looking forward to seeing more of your builds, I've already seen your Midget which looks great so far...
