MkA Whippet 1918 1/72 scale
Picked this up last week, as i was quite impressed with Paul and Als versions in 1/35.
I seem to be having a braille scale period at the mo so this is the 1/72 version.
will be adding as much extra detail as possible (or is feasible)
thought i'd do a little bit last night and literally 5 minutes later i had this...

The detail on this little kit is really good and it's well moulded too.
Gave the assembled bits a base coat last night
Also painted, and rusted the exhausts ... they'll have a final rust colour applied when attached.
This morning i finished off the track assemblies, added the red for the markation, the base coat was just given a dark brown wash (which is all i think it needs) and the tracks were painted grey, then drybrushed in gunmetal, then washed over with both a rust colour and the dark brown.

Got the exhausts fitted, going to dull them down when they're set with some thin black wash.
made some "track doodahs" (as they've become known :) ), they were all the same size but some bits of balsa have remained swelled and i didn't notice until i'd stuck a couple on with superglue.
Made a box for the rear of the tank, the hinges and "hasp" are flattened solder wire cut to shape with a scalpel.

Just picked up on this one. Very nice work on the tracks. Great woodwork on the trunk.

It's looking great Colin. Those 'doodahs' must be tiny. I like the bashed up left silencer too.
The box loots terrific..... do tell us how you made it please!!

The doodahs are a bit on the diddy side.
I just lightly touched the silencer here and there with a hot rod, glad it's noticeable.
I could do a step by step for the box, do you want it here or in a specific area as a thread?

Hi Colin,
I am stunned yet again Sir, I have always love the way you manage to get the tracks looking so real...
Looking forward to seeing the step by step for the box...

Fabulous work on the whippet. Funny that it's not either the old car or the Devo song, still you really have the realism down. Great trunk and idea to use flattened solder, thanx!
