Computer Problems that Multiply
Well, my laptop issues just seem to go on. I have not been able to post any photos because my camera program (photoshop lightroom) is only on that computer. I have now been without the laptop since Sept 19, and using the iPad mini.
The computer went in due to the hinges coming loose from the screen housing. This also damaged the screen surround. This has now been fixed, but they could not get it to boot up. They determined that in fixing this issue, they damaged the motherboard. So now they have to replace this (at no charge). I think they will lose money on this job, but I still wait.
I need to post the latest on the Stetling Race truck, post on a new model I have also been working on, plus put the tutorial out there on the nickel/cobalt plating I have been doing.
Oh well, hopefully soon enough! You don't realize how dependent you are on these things until they are not there!!

Pete, That don't even sound right about them doing a fix on the screen hinges and then not able to boot up after the repair !! Don't know what brand laptop you have but that's the easiest thing to repair, what has to be unhooked from the motherboard is the keyboard ( most of the time ), wiring for the screen and the two wires for the wireless, take out the screws that hold the screen to the body and take it off then remove the cover for the screen, replace the hinges and put it back together. I hope you have a back up of all your data cause if they replace the motherboard they will have to reinstall Windows for it to work right and what ever programs you installed will have to be put back in also. Hope things work out OK for you

I hope you get up and running soon. Sounds like a bad deal all the way around.

I know how stressful being without your computer can be. My computer went in for repair this spring for an on/off switch. Eventually the whole computer had to be replaced. Can't wait for your updates. Luv your work.

Re: Computer Problems that Multiply
YEA, I have my computer back finally. They had it for almost 5 weeks. It works great. The screen hinges are fixed, the cracked screen surround replaced, and they put in a new motherboard (because they broke it during the repairs). I think they felt bad about all the time and hassle, so it only cost $129, less than the original estimate. They really lost money on this job.
And it works great now. Time to catch up on posts!!

Glad your back Pete.
Things can always go wrong but the mark of a fair company is in how they handle the situation. Sounds like your guys were pretty fair.
