'58 Chev Pickup
A diecast. Got the usual treatment, torn down, stripped, repainted. Tidy up the fit of a few things, some BMF here & there.
Added quarter vents, swapped the steering wheel.
Nice & easy. A good thing, since I feel ghastly. Boss picked up a cold at our high school 50th, whicj he has duely forwarded to me.
Enough coughing & spluttering, here's what you want ( I hope) to see. The green is darker in the metal, not BRG green though.
The engine & bay are one piece- I've done what I could with Chevy engine orange, gunmetal & black.

You must be sick, you did not post the pic of the engine bay.

Vastly improved today I'm pleased to say! The engine bay is hardly worth a pic, but I'll take one after work today.

Re: '58 Chev Pickup
Painting die casts makes a nice easy change from plastic.
I can't leave them alone too, often just adding washes to bring out detail in the chrome parts.
Avid die cast collectors hate that because it devalues the die cast model,
but doesn't bother me.

Nuthin' wrong in "personalizing" diecasts. I've seen some real beauties made from "Plain Janes." Sometimes all it takes is different colored paints.

Looks good Chris. I think the "just paint" thing turned out very nice. Way better than it was before.

I'm with you there, Ron. What the purists think is immaterial to me. And, lets face it its not one of the high end "limited edition" diecasts.
If you believed the diecast nazis, taking the thing out of its box has devalued it.
Cheers,
Chris
P.S. Model is assembled- less the roof which I'll repaint. Need to foil the badges & door handles.
I'm scratchbuilding a 'timber' box to decorate the bed.

Re: '58 Chev Pickup
You're right about the pic. It looks a bit odd, tho probably it's due to foto taken from above somewhat. I'm gonna google fotos of that year one. We could use more truck kits from different years, since they changed internally so little. New bodies would be all it would take. I'm guessing there are some resin cast ones out there too! Thanx.
