Re: The Affair At Nery WWI
ooooh i say ...... looking much better.
couple of things i thought of, if i may, just before you start putting the figures etc on the diorama get some muddy footprints all over the place .... easy to do ... just use some oil/acrylic thinned brown (of several shades) and then use the feet of an unpainted figure to splodge it about a bit ..... le voila ...footprints!.
do the same with a the horse ...or better still..... cut a notch out the end of a bit of tube and use that as a horseshoe shape, you could press it down harder to get the indent as well
also some "dragged" areas might look good where the horses have dragged the carriages sideways and the wheels have skidded.

I am liking the hay stack a lot now. The color looks great in the photo. I know it can be different in person but the photo looks perfect. The new improved tracks are much better, I hadn't even thought about them not ending abruptly. Nice input guys.

Scattered straw around the base of the pile adds a lot. The rest is looking super as well. I'll be following the fotos, thanx!

Gary: You are doing some absolutely great work here. I know the criticism you received from the guys is all well meant and has helped you to make your diorama even more realistic. The type of constructive criticism you have been getting is one of the reasons I think this is one of the best modeling forums around.

Re: The Affair At Nery WWI
Great work Gary, both look very convincing.
Is the horse dead/dying or just resting? If dead maybe it needs some wounds???

Thanks ZB.
Al, thank you. The horse is expiring sadly. Will have a think about damage.

Re: The Affair At Nery WWI
Does it need damage?
Horses mainly died from over-exertion and stress, personally i'd only add a few nicks and scratches to the horse, mainly on the chest and leg fronts from where its forced it's way through obstacles.
good work so far though Gary, most impressed indeed!
