Post by marijkeb67 Fri 17 Jan 2014, 11:35 pm

Hi guys,

Will do the introductions here, just started modelling as that is what is taken up a lot of my husbands time, so decided to join him in the man cave. Have a lot to live up to, as he is quit good at it and publishes his models in a magazine and sells them. What I will beat him at is that he is building military planes and I build cars, he got me a Mustang on eBay and attached was a letter about this forum, so here I am:-) currently working on a Revell Shelby Mustang GT 350 H
Nice to meet you all and great to look around here!

Hey there marijkeb67 and welcome to our site. You are our first lady member and very welcome indeed.

It's nice to know when someone signs up as a result of the fliers I send out with kits.

Thanks Al, had a look around and see I have a lot to learn, shame I am the first lady and I say the lady with a smile on my face, hopefully some more will follow. Received the monogram mustang convertible today, pretty much my dream car, anyway eBay shop saved in favorite sellers as I love the American classics

Welcome from Ireland, nice to have a girl on board, don't take offence, all ladies are still girls over here. LOL

Can you speak any Scot's Gaelic, I believe it's a hell of a lot closer to Irish than Welsh is (sorry Andy..!)

I'm afraid I've only ever been to Amsterdam a few times, never saw more of Holland.

As for spelling mistakes, we can't spell anything properly anyway, the glue and paint has that effect. LOL

Andy, you have the drop on us, a huge amount of Welshmen can speak Welsh, you have pride in your language, over here you'd have to go to a Gealtact area to hear fluent Irish, we all have a cupla focail but I can't speak it properly, even though I have an A level in it!

I believe that Scots Gaelic and Irish speakers can understand each other, but Welsh is a bit mad! LOL

I thank you for joining and wish you well in this new year. We hope you'll take to building. I always believed women have greater talents in patience and working with very small scale projects. Best of luck and many thanx!

Lady modellers are not as rare as you think.
I know a guy who is into model railways and has a very large loft layout.
He deals with the track and rolling stock - while his wife does the scenery and buildings.
Her detail work puts mine to shame.
