Car Trailer... Empty Car Trailer...

Post by Johnag Wed 01 Jan 2014, 11:24 pm

Hi all,

I have thinking of making a car transport trailer for sometime and finally took the plunge...

This is what I came up with...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject_zpsfb16f19b

Car Trailer... TrailerProject1_zps4cd4e1bf

The mesh is the one you use with body filler on real cars...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject2_zpsbff1fcfa

The axles are made from round balsa wood with a plastic rod pushed through...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject4_zps368c8969

Axle mounts...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject5_zps32b51375

The black parts of the mud guards are from a cheap toy artic trailer...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject6_zps5644c2b5

The lights are the rear lights off the trailer...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject7_zps24c34f92

Making the ramps holder...

Car Trailer... TrailerProject8_zps7a95ed86

Car Trailer... TrailerProject9_zpsd4a7f689

Thank you for looking, any and all hints & tips greatly received...

I will post the finished pictures in the finished section...

Andy...

Scratchbuilding can be a challenge and you've come up with a new idea on the mesh. All I'd change would be trying for some sort of suspension, axle combo that looks a little more real. Still, if the trailer is to show off other vehicles, then it's great the way it is. Not everything needs to be perfect. The ramp storage idea is a good one too, and something I would have overlooked. Thanx and for good clear fotos and descriptions. We can all learn new things!
