Grumman Goose
This is a model of a Grumman Goose that was used in SW Alaska as a mail plane and airtaxi. My dad wrenched on it in the 60s. I have a photo of the original that I am working from. Lindberg 1/48 toy kit. The tail feathers were the wrong shape, the engine nacelles were too long, the interior was nonexistent, the landing gear has to be scratch built.
Tail feathers had been reshaped and other body work in primer.
Main color is done and decaling is started, cowling will be same color as striping, wing tips will be dayglo orange. Computer printed decals didn't work out too well but will be made to work.

Interesting plane. I guess I wasn't thinking that small when I read the header.

Re: Grumman Goose
Thanx for a plane! Nice to see work on different types of models! The design shows it's good for short take-off and landing and good cargo capacity. Great, too, to see a model company making a kit.

Very good paint. Taking a closer look at the differences between the kit and the actual plane, it wasn't a perfect job on their part, but your work has improved things and the paint will add a bunch!

Re: Grumman Goose
The kit was a toy from the early 60s. The wheels used a metal axle and a motor to run on the floor. I am now building some landing gear to be somewhat accurate. The tail was reshaped to be more representative of reality. I also added bits here and there to improve the overall look.

Re: Grumman Goose
Been studying pics on the web for scratching up some landing gear for this. Found more pics of this AC that show more of the markings. Now I have to make and print some additional decals :-(
