Over seas Shipping
Hi Gang, I need some info. on overseas shipping. Got a quote to ship a 1lb. package to Australia from U.S.P.S. of $59.95 which is way too much so does anybody know of a cheaper way to get a package overseas ??

I shipped a Double Dragster kit to Al, in Britain. It was one in the tin box. Kit cost 35 bucks shipping was 70 bucks. If there is a cheaper way I would like to know about it also. Al sent me an airplane kit and the postage was 6 bucks. Where do you think the problem lies?

Strange. I had heard that USPS international rates had recently gone up. I just shipped 1 lb to Austria for $16. About 3 years ago I sent 3 lbs to OZ for $30.
Even lower 48 rates are strange. The tipping point is 13 ounces. I recently tried to ship a 1 lb $5 item. They wanted almost $9 for shipping. Took the item back home and made a custom sized box from the thin cardboard from a case of beer. Took it back and it only weighed 12.8 oz. Now the postage was like $2.75.

Did you just box it up and go to the post office with standard shipping or what ??
