Personally, while WW2 planes all look great, The German planes all exude a degree of menace and serious deadly attitude that exceeds most others.

I like the added light weathering with dark washes. Builders of war vehicles sometimes add spots of peeling paint. I know that dots of liquid frisket (similar to rubber cement) when removed after spraying, can add realism. On tanks I've seen the "salting" method used well too. I wonder if it works on planes where less paint peel and only in some areas can be done with planes.
On the Messer 110, a lovely job and the tropical/desert paint gives it a totally different look from the European paint schemes. Cool!
Forgive my ignorance, what are the large gray things under the wings? Are they spare fuel for long flights?
