Back when I built, I made an "arbor" on which to mount tires for drill based sanding.  It did work on firmer tires.  Thanx for putting some of your skills on video as it really helps builders and inspires newer ones to greater efforts.  3 cheers!

Nice idea on the tyre 'scrubbing' Dan. I used to use something similar years ago but lost the 'arbour'

Could you show us your method of attatching the wheel to the cordless drill please?

There's not a lot to show really, Al. But I'll try to get some fresh pictures or a vid done when the drill's back tomorrow.

Thanks folks, the weather has been dismal recently, inhibiting body spraying, but with a break in the weather this afternoon, I broke out the Halfords Nissan White for another shot. There's a small chance of some progress shots this evening.

And Al, due to the work on our Leyland Roadrunner, the drill is otherwise located for the present time in a prior and more important engagement. There's not a lot to show really, the chuck of the drill has quite a long, fine nose, so reaches into the wheel easily and as the Porsche BBS wheels have long spindles inside them, it's just a case of securing the spindles in the chuck without over tightening them.

When I did the wheel sanding with a drill I just had a long thin fine thread bolt assorted metal washers of different sizes and with trial and error got each tire centered and tight, then went at it with sandpaper. A variable speed drill, or a regular one connected thru a rheostat to keep RPMs down worked. Nowdays, the rechargeable drills have pretty slow speeds, often 2 speeds, and that could do well also.
