Airfield Defense Vehicle
I dragged this from the pile of stalled builds over the weekend. My fictional Airfield Defense Vehicle. 1964 Chev pickup chassis, the body is sheet styrene I salvage from refrigerator doors. Its more of a security vehicle than a combat one, meant to protect the crew from rifle calibre gunfire.
The interior will be empty- I'll use black painted clear sheet to give a window illusion. Planned armament is a light MG in through a top hatch.
Cheers,
Chris

These 'what if' projects are a lot of fun. Not restricted to counting rivets, if you know what I mean.

Re: Airfield Defense Vehicle

AMT 1/25 pick up kit. The chassis has been hanging about since the early 2000s, so I thought I'd do something with it.
The wheels are 1/35 Italeri "Puma" armoured car, but they work well enough in 1/24-5th
I've got the machine gun mostly sorted, complete with spare magazines.
Thanks Beowolf, the mesh screens on the Landy are inspiration. Might use some on this build.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Airfield Defense Vehicle
The MG. magazines are 1/35 20mm left overs from my Tamiya armour days, the MG is a spear gun with a stock added.
Mount is scratched, and the hatch "ring" is a the base from a sample pot of Anne's lotions n potions!
I've got the bonnet & doors on. I'll do a bit more tonight while watching the cricket. Hopefully there won't any more poor umpiring like last night!
Cheers,
Chris

Doors & windscreen frames added. Body rough sanded, needs more filler. I'll add a bonnet & hinges shortly.
Not sure what I'll do for the grill & headlights & bumper.
Not much modelling ATM, busy getting projects done around the house so I can do a "boys road trip" to Winton, Victoria for a V8 Supercar round.
By an amazing coincidence, there are 7 aircraft museums on the way back.........
Cheers,
Chris
