JoHan curbside promo. Ebay find that needed a full restoration. Tamiya Light Gunmetal, rattle can interior. Chrome by BMF and Molotow.
No wheels or tyres when I got it, so the parts bin supplied the closest wheel trims I could find. Not the greatest match but it will do.
Need to source a door mirror, that's going to wait until the weather is cooler.

Nice job Chris.
The colour suits it well and seems to lend it an air of dignity.

I was going to ask if there are any photos of the engine.....then the penny dropped, you did say it was a promo.
Different - a big ugly car to my mind...but impressive, and nicely restored.Chris.
Funny how ugly can have it’s appeal. I always liked those ‘60’s Valiants knowing full well they were not pretty.

Re: '72 Toronado
How strange is this - I mentioned Chrysler Valiants only yesterday - and up pops this advert on Facebook for one for sale less than 10 miles away in the old colliery village of Ferryhill - a superb example for only £8000. If this was ten years ago I would have snapped it up without a second’s thought !
Ugly may not be pretty - but it’s pretty interesting.

Wow..... Ferryhill, not that far from me either. (app 40m)
I actualy love this version of Valiant and like Ron, would have snapped it up, but only TWENTY years ago.
Is it at a garage or on ebay Ron?

Re: '72 Toronado
This actually gets stranger. I picked this advert up on Facebook/Marketplace late last night, which is when I took the two screenshots, and the seller claimed he was the son of the owner selling on behalf of his mother. I wish I had taken a screenshot of the ad because this lunchtime I looked the car up again, and it had gone. Possibly sold, or was I dreaming ?
I had the registration plate from the photos, which I suspect were when the car was originally bought because I don’t know anywhere in Ferryhill that has a turntable showroom. I did a vehicle check, and the plate indeed refers to a Valiant, but showing it should be green, which it clearly isn’t, but interior shots showed it had a green interior.
Was it a scam, a ruse, or a dream and I’m loosing my marbles ?
Further checks showed a Valiant on carandclassic.com website, selling for £7950 - in South Africa ......and the car is not on Ebay. However, there is a video on Youtube uploaded a year ago when the dealers were selling this car....

Strange indeed.
Sorry for hogging the thread. 🥴

Re: '72 Toronado
I had a model kit, I think, of the Valiant! Chrysler ALWAYS went its own way in body designs. Today I'd consider it weird and sorta ugly. They never sold well anywhere so I'm surprised to see one still around and in near mint condition.
The big plus for Chrysler was in engineering. Their "slant 6" was a real innovation and the turbine . . . well, it was unique! Thanx.
