Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
I’ve just started on the front suspension and steering of my T, Sam.
Even though I have lots of parts, not everything fits, so it’s a bit of this and a bit of that - I want it on it’s wheels by Christmas if possible.....photo coming soon.

Excellent Gasser Ron, seen pics of it before but I have no information on the running gear.

When I used to see the Volvo at Santa Pod it wasn’t that particularly fast, but it had the right look - obviously a lot of money has been ploughed into the car since. I’m not too sure what engine is but looks to be a blown big block Chevy.

So was it a friend or family member you bought beer and pizza for.

It really was a Computer Technician, Sam, but he’d said previously that he couldn’t fit me in before Christmas to sort my laptop.
I guess he was desperate for £30 for Christmas gifts ?.....or a beer and pizza !

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
I just had to check if my laptop was still working.....
I was thinking that I might make some fenders like the early Model T’s for my model, similar to the photo - just to be different.
My grandsons have been around, excited for Monday - and my son tells me he has a model kit for me in Santas sack. I hope it’s nothing too small, as my eyes are struggling to add the detail on the 1/16th jeep.......and I received an unwelcome yuletide gift two days ago thanks to the storms flattening my 6ft x 15metre fence, looking at almost £1000 to replace it. 🥴

Yes, the front axle looks a tad wide.

Tee Time ......Wings and running boards !
I think it is obvious that this model is being constructed with very little forethought - and built on the fly, but I’m going for it and seeing what comes !
I have managed only a few hours in my loft man-cave because my back is still being problematic. Just had my doctor refer me to a specialist : 19 weeks from now...5 months wait, and they used to call our National Health Service the best in the world ! 🥴

We might have to call it Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Looking really good . My frame is in primer and my rear end almost ready for primer, does that count as progress?
Sorry to hear about your continued back problems. I know about seeing specialists, our son needs one and the appointment was six months out. It's April 9th, so only four months to go.

I’m going to continue building what I can, and waiting for warmer weather to lay some paint on mine Sam.
By then I might have a few models stock piled for paint. I have started chassis’ for other cars too.

Wow Ron, you totally blow my mind with all your scratch building.
Makes my attempts seem mundane!

Cheers Al.
Maybe the fenders are a step too far as my attempts are not quite working out, especially on the rears - It would have been easier to leave them off, but that’s defeatist talk.

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
My usual manic frenzy of model building has somewhat waned and come to a halt, for various reasons.
The rear fenders of the build are not what I want, and I’m still looking for a better idea that would work - and now that the fenders are on the front, the lightweight cycle wheels which I was proposing to use no longer look appropriate. I’m sure it will sort itself out in the .....and there isn’t any progress either, on both 1/8th and 1/16th Jeeps.
.....it’s back to Crossword puzzles and writing my memoirs for now then.

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
Ron, the rear fenders look more proportional if you turned the boot into a boat tail? Just a thought.

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
Well, that’s thinking outside the box - never thought about altering the body - nice idea.
.....but I think you have inadvertently given me the answer...
This started as another hot rod/custom, but by adding the wings it became a retro speedster - and those rear wings are too high.
.......If I bin the slicks and add a decent set of wheels and tyres with lower rear fenders it might work a whole lot better.

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
Well, what I thought was my eureka moment, was anything but.
After trying out a couple of different sets of wheels and tyres, it created more problems than answers.
I had one more feeble attempt to make rear wings, before scrapping that idea too.
Sam’s idea to change the back of the body, now sounds more sense.
I decided that the rear wings must match the fronts, so tried that by attaching them to the chassis instead of the body, and shortening the running boards to give a less acute angle. Only now, the body doesn’t fit......but a smaller Model T bucket body does. Cheating ? I know, but it’s still a Lindberg kit - and then I created a rear fuel tank shaped like a turtle deck.....and binned the V6, in favour of a Flathead V8 !
....at last, I have satisfactory progress, and still looking like a 1950’s show car, if you squint !

Hmmm, I like the black body better I think.
Can you build the splash aprons to fill the gap between the running board and body? Then use the flat rear fenders.

Re: Lindberg T kit bash.
I’m torn between the two to be truthful Sam, and feel I’ve chickened out on the original plan, though I have to admit the bucket version is working out better and isn’t blocking my progress.
I had intended to make the bucket into a shortie ‘Tweedy Pie’ style rod, but the larger black body won’t be scrapped and I’m already trying to work it onto another chassis - as another show-car build.
Yep, everything was going fine until I added the fenders into the mix. Doh !
