1920’s Shop Truck in 1/8th scale
I’ve been threatening to post this build thread for some time - It’s the final 1/8th scale model that I haven’t shown before. Made from my spares boxes and sheets of Plasticard, and not based on any particular vehicle - but has hints of Model T Ford....this is my 1920’s Shop Truck !
After building my 1965 Corvette drag car, I had the complete independent front suspension and a Chevy engine and gearbox left - so a chassis was built around them.
The simple chassis was built from square plastic profile, and all the usual bits and bobs to make up a representative ‘rat rod’ chassis.
I also had the first prototype ‘31 Ford grille that I made and a pickup bed from a Big T, so my imagination filled in the gap between, by building a tall cab pickup !

Re: 1920’s Shop Truck in 1/8th scale
Finally, it was complete and ready fir it’s coat of paint....satin black, with a dab of real signwriting, and a hit of surface rust. At this point it was in need of a pair of headlights, but I had nothing in hand - but my grandson had parts in his Lego box that could work, so adapted a few to create a pair of lamps - but a little too large.
To give you an idea the size of 1/8th vehicles - the blue rod alongside this big kit is 1/24th scale.

I eventually purchased a 1/8th Model T that I could ‘borrow’ a better set of headlights for this model, and I also painted the radiator shell in satin black to match the body, instead of the silver finish. I’m still tempted to add mudguards and running boards to this model - but that can be a job when I’m bored.

Thanks Sam.
As you know, I get as much fun, if not more, from scratchbuilding as I do from building and modifying kits.

Well Ron, I came home last night after a few glasses of dandelion and burdock, and couldn't give a sensible response, so I went to bed!
That's fabulous. Don't need to say anything else really.

One priblem I see is that the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

....in the days of the Model T Ford built here in the UK, the steering wheel was the same side as US cars
