I’m back too
You know I’m on already but I’ve just found this so here you go
I’m Back
I was on here about 7 years ago for a while then my life changed so I quit then started up again January 23.
Welcome to my world of soon to be ruined models because I demand way better than my talents allow.

Plastic scale modelling never leaves you Ash, it’s like a drug - I started in 1955 and I’m still hooked !

Re: I’m back too
that’s a long time buddy, longer then I’be been alive .. you’re a trooper!
I put all my stuff up on eBay, compressor, airbrush’s every single kit I had all as 1 lot, my other half convinced me to cancel it and keep all my stuff. Was over £400 and climbing but I had easy 1500 in kits as individual sales. Anyway I cancelled it and here I am, about 2 years later still trying to make the perfect model.. one day maybe

I did much the same when I was diagnosed with an eye condition - sold off all my stash and built kits, and raked in £3500, or some such number. I gave it a rest for a few years and took to rebuilding real bikes and scooters - but there is a certain pleasure in tackling models that I missed, plus it’s a lot cheaper.

Your eyes are they still the same, you can’t have laser or anything?
We’re going to get the mrs eyes done, she has astigmatism and cataracts which is no good when she works 50 miles away , hopefully it will be next summer, she just has to get through the winter bless her.
I had laser about 12 years ago, had to have it done twice because the first one didn’t work. I’ve still got an eye that isn’t as good as the other, but for now I’m ok, more so with the magnifying head piece, £40 from Amazon rechargeable and upto 3x vision, I use the 2.5 because 3 is way too strong.

Re: I’m back too
I’ve worn specs for short sight since being a nipper Ash, but I have posterior enamel detachment and no known treatment. I was warned to stop straining my eyes, don’t go bungee jumping, and try not to knock my head. Three years ago I was out on my ‘Lambretta when I was hit by a car - the driver just hadn’t seen me. I came round on the operating table while they were fixing my leg, but was overjoyed that I could still see - but my concussion gave me tinnitus. There is a whole story around that accident but I was so pleased that I never lost my sight - it’s such a previous gift many take for granted.

Re: I’m back too
That doesn’t sound good, but you survived!
I totally agree with the taking for granted, people don’t realise how quickly life can change. Like me, I woke up with epilepsy one morning so they took my license and I lost my job. It’s a waiting game until I’m better and can drive again and go back to work. Just loosing my driving license has totally changed my life. I couldn’t imagine loosing my sight, least I’ll get mine back and return to work, you’re a bit stuck even though you can see.

Yes, I live to tell the tale - but I can’t ride bikes any more, not even a push bike.
Your epilepsy episode must have been frightening too, which goes to prove you never know what is around any corner in life - let’s hope you get your licence back soon, and no more scary fits.
I believe in making the best and enjoying what I have, and think how much worst life could be - and be thankful for the sunshine and blue skies while I can still see it.

Re: I’m back too
I’m working on it Shay.
I still have my mountain bike, but there is a problem - spinning on the ball of my left foot to Baby my leg over the saddle can dislocate my new hip and all the titanium jiggery-pokery ....I’m worth a fortune in scrap......and once in the saddle my right arm won’t reach the bars.
But I’m not a quitter.
Using an old BMX bike frame and bits of a Schwinn, I’m trying to concoct something I can straddle and go biking with my grandkids - if they can stop laughing.

Looks like the social police have altered the word I used to ‘throw’ my leg over which was c**k, and strangely inserted baby ??

Yes, the fun Police are in force Ron. That wasn't even remotely like bad language to be fair.
Everybody is fecking offended by everything these days.
I usually get away with that one....lol

‘Baby’ autocorrect has gone mad. Just like the world .
That’s some feat Ron turning into a bmx bandit, terrorising the neighbourhood with your grandkids
