Another Model T .....but this is a Lindberg.
My final big scale Model T is actually a Lindbergh model, built with a lot of scratchbuilding to create a Competition Altered Drag Racer.
I started off with a base model ‘Bobtail T’, not a patch on the Monogram/Revell Model T Fords, but still has it’s merits.
First I built the engine, new scoop, boxed the chassis, framed the tub, built a small pickup bed and ‘Z’d the frame. Once primed it was looking the business.
I built a coil sprung rear end, scratched an interior with seat, steering wheel, pedals, etc. and an electric fan for the T radiator.

Finding rear slicks was a problem, so after sourcing a pair of Tamiya wheels and widened them, I cut some 12mm MDF to sandwich together to make tyres, and a lot of body filler. I made up decals to give the car a competitive look. A drag chute was thrown together, wheelie bars, and a more substantial roll cage. The windscreen was cut down and an optional rear wing constructed.

Hi Ron,
Yet another beautiful build Sir, although, I'm not sure how long those "tyres" would last on the strip...

Oh ...my ...word. You my friend, take things to a completely different level. You have crazy skills, and this build showcases them to their full extent. One can dream though.
I think you're doing this on purpose. You show one build, and then have another one in the background. A '65 Vette?

Re: Another Model T .....but this is a Lindberg.
Thanks guys
I just disappear into my builds. When I start I have only a vague idea where I want things to go, and events just develop into what you see in the end. As I approach each part of the build ideas pop in my head, and I just go for it. Believe me, it really surprises me how they turn out.
Sam, I have a couple of 8th scale ‘65 Corvettes, and have popped photos on here before, but not separate build threads. The car in one of the photos is a gasser I built at the same as this Lindberg ‘T’ a few years ago. Opening up the doors was a massive job, the injected big block engine was scratchbuilt as was the whole chassis - but the original slicks that came with the Bobtail are those that are used on that Corvette.

I don't remember seeing them, and did a quick search to no avail. But I wasn't always looking for 1/8 builds before either.

Looks like I’ll have to do a couple more quick build threads then ?

Hevens!!!! I got that kit sooo long ago, when it was first brought out. Even as a kid, I was disappointed! You have made a true beauty from a . . . well, something less!
Big congrats, and I know well the feeling of disappearing into a build!

Did you use r/c airplane tires for the front?

They are Tamiya buggy items Sam - I purchased them along with the buggy front wheels.

I knew I recognized them from somewhere. Years ago I was into r/c cars and planes.

How on earth did I miss this one. Brilliant work as usual Ron.
The standalone shot of the interior alone is a model in itself.
