Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
For my next build I decided to do something for fun, straight out of the box, no extras and at worst a need for multiple colours side By side. The Tamiya Ducati 1199 Panigale with a nice martini suit. Order the paint and go to work. Filling in the seams and sanding away I ended up holding to hard and broke the join in the front fender needing glueing and sanding again from the beginning, back into the box you go!
Out came this Williams from my part started collection instead, engine was already built from before just needed body work and I can see why I quit. Instructions are too vague, don’t actually say the need to paint any blue whatsoever only white and yellow and that’s not overly clear. Conferred with Al who found a picture which someone indicated where this line was supposed to be and so far so good.
Thanks for looking

Re: Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
I did some more yesterday
Clear coated the body
Did some engine bits
Bit of course disaster struck, the other night I was playing with some humbrol wearying powders I’ve had for years and never used. I truly wish I hadn’t ever bought them, I had a black face and neck, my green mat had black smudges which won’t come off, my floor mat had red and black smudges, the light switch on the wall was black and finally my brand new 1 week old remote control for my PlayStation looks like it’s a year old.
But the powders also caused this, I didn’t spot until I started clearing it, decals won’t cover it so either sand and repaint or live with it. Haven’t decided yet but the powders went in the bin.

Hi Ash,
You could do it slightly weathered as if having just finished a race...

Re: Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
Happens every time mike.
Andy er no, that’s way too dangerous it’s repainted but I killed another bit, it’s gone like a wrinkly finger when it’s been in water for a while. That’s gotta be rubbed down a bit and painted again.
I was trying to extend the yellow a bit because I felt it would be too short. Ooops
Hopefully I won’t mess any white up because thats nearly all gone the only other white I have is for the belkits m1 escort roger clark version, where I’d have to start again because it’s a different shade.

Re: Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
Update - yellow is redone and so is the white.
Seat and dash are finished I think, should the horizontal lines at the top and bottom of the shoulder cushions be silver?
The inside of the car should be a strange mix of colours I don’t have so I’m using this, no idea how to make a template but ill give a it go and there’s black bits to either side of it so some paint or some out of scale cf sheet will have to do. Found this is the decal box and it’s about the right colour.
And I’ve done some of the front wing decals and I painted the white line on because it’s easier than messing with decals.
That’s all for now

Re: Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
My template failed, I needed 1 that covered the whole area and not 2 oops. Lesson learnt.
I’ve cleared everything even the poor decal side bits, I’ll cover most of it with paint because you’ve gotta put some blackish lines on that part anyway.
I’ve finished the decals on the front bit and started on the rear one
I’ve also managed to kill the front wing bits trying to cut corners but fixed them.
Still needs some x18 but that’s easy enough once the clears cured.
That’s all for now, going to finish and assemble the front and rear wings next, hopefully without destroying something, we shall see.

Re: Tamiya williams FW13B 1/20
No need to start a new wip, I’ll carry on with this
I bought another, when I put the body on before it lifted up the rear of the car causing my lines to be way out.
After receiving the new one I whipped out the replacement and It turns out that the air scoop on the top isn’t the right shape so it pulled it out of sync when I glued it down.
Only way to get it right is to stick the top bit on instead of it being a separate piece like before
2 layers of filler, I’ll try a bit of primer and refill if necessary before the paint job.
Engine is done but this time the body is being glued, I’ll never be able to actually see inside at the internal parts so not too fussed about it being amazing inside just needs some touching up but the body now sits flat as it should
[/url
I tried the tyre on a socket trick and it works a treat.
