Re: A plane thingy
I found two Plane kits in the attic a long time ago. I built them even though I have no real interest, but one was a bi plane that could land and take off on water.

Re: A plane thingy
It's a pretty decent little kit Dave, it does however suffer from several fit issues, notably the air intake nacelles (too big and needed sanding down) the fit of the wing assembly to the fuselage and the underbelly panel for the main landing gear compartment (also needing downsizing)
I did mine in the Yellow Jacks colours.

Stunning tribute to a great little aircraft, Al...

Nice. I don't know where to start but I'll probably do some sort of Metal gear tribute when I get round to it.

Re: A plane thingy
This Airfix kit was the same plane that my son first built, at about 8years old, and I still have the model.
My son is now 43.....seems like yesterday.

Hi Ron. I thought you had gone for good. Good to hear from you.
Can anyone recommend how to put this one together? Obviously there is a massive seam all the way down when the two halves go together yet the cockpit needs to be fully complete before that stage even begins. What's the usual process?

Re: A plane thingy
It's not hard Dave.
Complete the cockpit and install in the fuselage. Once installed, prepare the fuslage by sanding the seam. Complete the airframe and wings to the point of priming and painting.
Now for the 'trick'.
Using a small piece of foam rubber, insert it into the open (canopyless) cockpit until it 'seals' all the edges.
Now prime and spray as per usual.
I'll see if I can find a photo for you.

I see. Thanks for that info Al. No doubt I'll mess it up somehow.

Re: A plane thingy
Dave... the WORST that can happen is that you will get a LITTLE overspray on the upper vertical surfaces of the cockpit, just below the canopy. IF you do, it's very easy to touch up with the cockpit color.
Mike.... it's a Foland Gnat jet trainer. The box art displays the RAF's display team colours whilst mine is done in the Yellow Jacks colours.

Re: A plane thingy
Planes to me are like a fast bus between Dublin and Birmingham airport to be honest, but that winter camo is very nice Al.
