Stretched Western Star
This build was a long time coming. Felt really good getting back in the hobby room.
This truck is kinda special. Of all the trucks I've built I haven't done a Wester Star Truck. I needed to build one as its part of my past so to speak. Out of high school I went and worked at a metal shop, Western Star Truck parts was approximately 80% of our business. As I built this kit part numbers of actual truck parts flooded my head. It was a neat trip down memory lane. But it doesn't stop there... the trucking company Dad drove for shared back yards with Western Star. I watched many a truck roll out off the assembly line. One of my first jobs on weekends was washing the trucks there (yep had a few Western Stars too). And years later my brother worked at Western Star. We actually worked together a few times submitting ideas (revisions of parts) to the engineers and had the parts modified.
One of my highlights personally was going to Western Star when they started building the new style (back then) cabs and sleepers. As the drivers were walking into the bunk the floor was oil canning. We built the floors. We were asked about a solution. I suggested to add ribbing in the floor to give it strength. It was a simple modification. All that was needed was a ribbing tool needed to be ordered and programmed into the CNC punching program (I was also a back up programmer for the CNC punches.
This model truck has the new style cab and sleeper.
Mostly box stock build. I added a pogo stick and air lines behind the sleeper. I stretched the frame to give it that beautiful long wheel base look. Added mud flap girls (photo etched parts), added CB antennas and aftermarket wheels and tires (kit tires where plastic, these are rubber).

Great detailed build. I love everything about this. I tried a truck once. Took up far too much space so stuck to cars after that.

Hey Brent., it's great to have you back buddy.
The truck looks brilliant. Any plans to build a trailer for it?

Beautiful build! As a fan of the little details I really appreciate the 'mudflap girls,' that one touch gave me a wave of youthful recollections.

Awesome to be back.
I agree with the space issue, trying to figure out where to put it.
I teally wanted to go all out, do some aftermarket lights or front bumper but since its been so long zi figured ill kerp it simple. Am very happy to have completed something. I have a Volvo or maybe it is an international in finishing stages as well. See if i can keep going.
I have started a livstock trailer for the Western Star
