1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass Pro Stock WJ's Hurst Olds

I know I have a handful of started wips but I started another one anyway.

I am using the new Revell Hurst Olds kit, Slixx decals and some parts box race car stuff and then the chassis and drive train from a Revell or Monogram Pro Stock or Pro Mold kit. I started with the Pro Mod chassis but I just bought a mid 80s Revell Pro Stock kit to try that chassis. I think the wheel base is better on the Pro Stock kit. The Pro Mod is a fuzz too long.

I have started enlarging the rear wheel openings  and filled the pin holes for the side mirrors.

I'm still working on the modifications so that I can get to painting and building.

The shape of the cage was for an 80s Camaro/Firebird and more swoopey than the Cutlass, so I made some significant changes but tried to retain most of the kit cage. I have no idea if my my design remotely resembled the actual car or not but I am going with it none the less. So this would not be a source for reference for the real car.

The chassis and roll cage mods are pretty much done so I should be able to tweak the fit of a couple things and move forward with the build. The annual model show here is Nov 4 and I would like to take this one along.

I appreciate you're trying for an authentic rollcage. They show pretty easily and can make a good model less than perfect. Sweet build so far . . . so far out!

I redid the roll cage behind the driver last night. What I had was too heavy handed. I use some smaller round stock.

Here are the two kits I'm melding together and a mock up shot. I still have to remove the factory "scoop" from the hood and attach the pro stock scoop.

I used the back of my Xacto and scribed it off the Firebird body. Same way I took the molded in engine bay (firewall, core support and wheel houses) off the Cutlass. Whats funny is I sold the engine bay piece on eBay for $5 plus shipping...

The chassis is almost finished and here is a mock up siting on the actual suspension.
I had to tweak the cage a bit more but I am pretty happy with how it turned out.

I cut up the drivers side quarter panel this weekend and started the body work on that side.
The hood is pretty much ready for paint.

Engine is together and just needs some touch up and final details
