1958 Chevy Impala
This one is done, I am reasonably happy with the outcome. I feel like I am shaking off the rust from not building anything for over 4 years. It's built box stock, except for the AMT kit fender skirts. This kit is the Revell lowrider version, and It was a difficult but good kit to build. One of the best Revell kits I've done in a long time. Anyway, on to the pics!

That is one beautiful land-boat! The colour and chrome is stunning and the interior (from the WIP) is just excellent

That colour & the BMF rock, Max. What difficulties did you have with this kit, as its on my wish list.

Thanks, I found the instructions to be a bit vague. The hinges on the trunk and the hood don't operate correctly. I ended up removing the hinges from the hood after an hour of messing with them to get hood to close all the way. Also after painting you might want to drill out all the holes where the trim is attached so the pins will fit. The kit has some very nice features though such as the way the chassis locks in. It fits in 2 slots in the front and then attaches to the body with 2 screws in the rear. The exhaust comes with metal exhaust tips for a more realistic look, and the seats have the insert decals which are very nice. All in all I would recommend this kit over AMT's offering. AMT's is more basic and all the trim would have to be foiled. It also has way more flash. The biggest plus to the AMT version is the opening doors. I think Revell totally captured the scale and lines of the 58.
I will build another one for sure, probably a custom version.

That's a beauty! Sharp and clean all around. The BMF and paint are very crisp!

Re: 1958 Chevy Impala
I luv your work here, however the late '50s Detroit products were less than beautiful. Many of us didn't like the chassis and rear suspension and the weird chrome trim. Only the Mercury "turnpike cruisers" could be called the greatest of design excess. The Edsels garnered the most attention, keeping the Mercs out of the spotlight.
Your comparison to the older AMT kit is appreciated as well. The trim looks really true to life rather than the flatter look of molded-on trim. Thanx.
