A blank canvass..............
............ this is my modelling room now that everything has been extracted. It's a blank canvass.
Now I already have some idea of how I want it to be but I'd love to have input from you guys too. The only thing I don't want is a sink as we have an under stairs toilet and wahs basin just outside the door.
So suggest away and feel free to post your own set ups to if you so wish.

Re: A blank canvass..............
Great space Al with massive potential. If I had the room I would love separate work areas for building, hand painting and a spray booth area with the relevant tools and materials for each in their own areas storage.
Glad your drying out my friend.

I'd fill it up with girls and Whiskey Al, you can't go wrong as long as the heating works!

Hi Al,
Now that's a lot of great space to fill, I'm with everyone else, especially the separate working areas such as the spray booth, just how thick are those walls, maybe have an air vent high up near the ceiling, it might also be an idea having a few more high storage shelves and instead of a floor show case have some shelves with some clear perspex sides and doors...

Re: A blank canvass..............
im thinking anything below a metre high should be easily portable and all display cases should be high up on the wall...................just in case you get flooded again!
but at least you do have a blank canvas, and time to think it through and get it right

I'm sure when it's "all new" you'll find plenty to fill it. Best o' luck! Dunno about filling it with comBUSTible mix of women and alcohol. Models, the plastic ones, could get damaged.

Great to see you're recovering well. I'm sure you'll fill it to suit personal preferences. The only suggestion I have would be to put a coating on the floor to simplify finding those miniscule pieces that jump off the work area occasionally. It also makes dust cleanup easier.

Re: A blank canvass..............
Wow, a blank canvas. I am so envious of what you can do, and also that you have a complete room to your modeling.
I would add an area where you can work standing up, with a higher table height. I think it is good to vary between sitting down and standing. I would also have a separate airbrushing area. Plus, you might think about how to keep the foreign materials away from this painting area.
What about tunes? I like to play music while I build. A satellite radio setup? And where do the speakers go?

Re: A blank canvass..............
Al: Here's a few I thought of. A couple of them are things I really didn't give enough thought when I was doing my room.
1. Really good lighting, both overhead and adjustable on the bench.
2. A quiet exhaust fan that is vented through the wall. I'd try for at least 350CFM.
3. Well place wall outlets. Give this one some serious thought and planning. When I did my room I thought I had it well planned, but I have found that I really don't have as many outlets as needed and a couple of them really aren't in the right place.
4. Vent your spray booth through the wall so you don't have to spray with a window open or spray outside.
5. Well placed storage cabinets and shelves.
6. Don't use carpet. Plain vinyl is sooooo much easier to find lost parts on.
For what it's worth.
John.

Thanks for all your support and suggestions guys, they have enabled me to formulate some ideas, which I will lay down in plan form in the not too distant for further discussion.
