Tamiya Mini Cooper 1275s Rally
Here it is my first rally car!!
Nice little kit and enjoyed building it, Tamiya bright red from a rattle can for the body, with white gloss for the roof
Spot lights on front painted yellow as glue caused a reaction, used it before with no problems but this time the clear plastic and glue didnt get along.

Hey now that has turned out real nice Ash. Told you the decals would be OK.
Did you use Superglue? If so, there is always that danger which is why I now routinely us five minute clear epxoy. If any get on the lens, it dries clear and you won't see it.
Just ask JohnJ. LOL

Re: Tamiya Mini Cooper 1275s Rally
that came out great
for 'glass' i always use either a white pva like 'gator glue' or very sparingly thick super glue BUT always after dipping in old formula Kleer as that (in theory) protects it.........................or maybe ive always been lucky lol

Hi Ash,
Look's brilliant and as Colin mentioned, nice touch with the yellow on the spot lights...
I know everyone has their own personal preference's, I always use Mircoscale Kristal Kleer on clear plastics, you can also use it to make light lenses as well as glass on dials etc...
Thank you for sharing this build with us though, going to have to get one myself now...

Cheers Andy.
Al sent me a link to what he uses and I defo need something soon before I start my next one really.
If you get one of these kits you won't be disappointed, I payed £12 for it brand new, there £15 on ebay atm.

Spot on, A5H! Looks like this one turned out great. I even like the spark plug wires you added to the engine.
Well done!

They were amazing cars, and set the stage for a revolution in small car design. It's a great kit and you did it proud. On the clear plastic glue question, there are specialty products but as stated, epoxy does the trick. A tiny dab of clear water-based paint (as a glue) or the white water-based glues that dry clear also do fine. Fantastic job totally!

Nice one! Rivet counting here, but shouldn't the windscreen rubbers be black?
Good engine detail too.
On the light issue, I PVA works for me.

Yes they should Chris but I'm yet to master those and didn't want to destroy the car so I left them

Fair enough. I know the feeling of going 'a detail too far " & ruining the thing.
Cheers,

Master one thing at a time chap.. ATM its painting with spray cans and brushes leaving no brush strokes.
Think I mastered that now, next thing is detailing engines with leads/wires and tubes
