freezing on access to site
anyone else having issues with this site freezing for seconds at a time?
windows 7 up to date
Chrome up to date
security software all as it should be
everything else that can have a bearing on site integrity ok,
all the above is by the by anyway as it's only this site that freezes, tried a selection of many types (including some with some really intrusive popups and malware cookies ... no issues with any of them and computer is still clean).
if no-one else having issues i need to look at this in depth.
access through tablet and phone is fine at present.

No problems here either Colin.
I use Windows 7 an Firefox. Chrome is just too damn slow IMO.

Re: freezing on access to site
Thanks for the input so far but a win 7 and chrome user is what's needed so I can compare like for like.
It started 11th of this month, was any forum updates added on or just before then Al?
I've just visited another forumotion site and the same thing happened.....
I'm reviewing updates for all my hardware and software that occurred at the same time.
For info, chrome doesn't suit every computer using a std install from the get-go, sometimes you have to twiddle with the settings to account for installed antivirus software etc, then it's as fast as a fast thing and very secure.
Mozilla browsers are just not secure enough for me, my security software had a paddy fit when I installed Firefox last week to test this problem out lol

Re: freezing on access to site
i went off firefox about 18 months ago when they did an update it just seemed to become unstable and slow
which is a shame cos i really liked a lot of the features on FF,...chrome is just a little more awkward i find......................but still light years ahead of IE

I haven't had any problem. For info I have found that internet explorer work better for me on this site and chrome on others. I have no idea why.

Re: freezing on access to site
Thank you Clay, that's the info I need, with both the softwares being updated as and when needed they should be to the same version on both our comps, hence I can now delve deeper.

Re: freezing on access to site
Well for those interested i sussed the issue.
As Clay reported he had the relevant Win 7 and chrome combo and everything was fine i accessed the info as to what should be where in setting and advanced settings in chrome.
my chrome advanced settings had one discrepancy, this being mine was set to hardware acceleration as opposed to software acceleration for the default update/install.
I traced this to the latest update from Nvidea (my graphics card) where they decided that their update should infiltrate all software and change settings to hardware acceleration (or so it seems).
This forum is as basic as basic can be regarding graphics and this caused the issue ..... basically a mega graphics card working over time to display a few 800x600 piccies as opposed to what i use it for primarily to work with HD video and render 400-500 mb images where it has no issues and breezes through.
thats it .... simple eh?
