KM Scharnhorst Empty KM Scharnhorst

The Tamiya 1/700 kit of the WW2 German Battlecruiser Scharnhorst. My interpretation of what she may have looked like during the Channel Dash in 1942 when it raced up the English Channel with Gneisenau, Prinz Eugen and escort vessels.

and its great to see the two side by side so the differences can be seen

Two great looking ship models Chris. Nice and clean.

How did you do the camo on the Scharnhorst and why was one done with camo while the other had hi-viz gun turrets?

Thanks Guys! The camo was actually easy. I used a very small brush with a few bristles an applied it carefully, dabbing here and there. The Scharnhorst and Gneisenau both had yellow turrets during the invasion of Norway, and blue during the channel dash. The models are from different time periods. I think the turret hi viz was a message for the Luftwaffe ie don't bomb me.

Ah! that makes sense. Just like the D.Day invasion stripes on allied aircraft.

Another great looking ship, Chris. Interesting comparing the sisterships and seeing the differences like the AA guns atop the big gun turrets, etc. Beautiful work.

Super nice job on the ship. I don't know enough about the genre to comment other than to say, it's a beautiful model.
