Dance, Katya, Dance
Photokubet$ has eliminated a lot of photos for a lot hobbiests. Glad there is a way to sidestep them, so I have re-posted this WW2 dio.
A few years ago I won this resin 1/35 ruined house corner kit at a Vancouver show. Three pieces that did not fit very well so I drilled and pinned and epoxied it together. The cobblestone base is only 3 3/4 by 3 3/4 inches square so it was going to be a figure dio. ICM makes a WW2 Russian box set depicting an accordion player while a wounded soldier, nurse and Dr. look on.
I used scale red bricks and other debris to hide the gap between the cobblestones and wall bottoms. Painting done in acrylics with oil paint staining. With oils you have more time to control aging and weathering and after they dry, if any gloss occurs use dullcote to flatten, then chalks or pigments for more weathering.
The damaged interior got two floors added, including floor joists, painted walls and some wallpaper. Some real wood framed the window. Also a piece of collapsed floor was scratch built and sits at an angle. The exposed bricks had their mortar joints painted.
Here we have the accordion players chair and some corner details.
Most of the figures have been assembled and faces/hands base coated. Besides ICM I used figs from MiniArt and Master Box.
The focus of the dio changed from the accordion player to a dancing girl. She was found at a toy and collectible show.

I'd have sworn I'd commented on this one Gord.
You did a great job on this lovely little dio. I love it.

Nice little scene!
Your artistic talent shows in the detailing, painting the figurines, and the composition in general.
Nice work.

Thanks to you all for your comments. Since the Photobukket debacle I think I will re-submit some past builds if that be OK with Skid. What is old is new again, Eh?
