Re: Salt Shaker Bonneville Bug
As I have already said in another thread, this is an amazing piece of model building,
especially with all the machined parts - Superb.

Looks great Pete. I can say the pictures don't do it justice. When you see it sitting on the table at a model show you are drawn to it right away. Two thumbs up.

Thanks for the compliments, guys! Buck, maybe you are drawn to it by the bright school bus yellow color. It is a quite bright color, and different.

This is, by far, the coolest VW bug I have seen! I love the body color!

Came out great! I remember seeing fotos of some '60s-'70s beetle drag cars. I still imagine the big honking Weber carbs sitting atop the heads. Your model has a more real and modest look, thanx!

Re: Salt Shaker Bonneville Bug
No dual Webers on this one.
It runs in the SSSBB class, which allows the "later model" VW engine block (not 36 HP one), but still must run the Solex 34 PICT carb. So displacement has been held at 1776cc. Carb can be rejetted but must retain the same venturis.

Art, I will be bringing this to GSL also. Likely will go in the "Replica" category, as I have the reference article in Hot VWs Magazine.

Re: Salt Shaker Bonneville Bug
Very impressive build. You have great skills. However, I get turned off by so many good builds because my eye is always drawn to out of scale ignition wires. How big are those, a full inch? These are more realistic. Good luck at the GSL.
