Hi all from Scotland
Hi, the names Colin, i live in a sleepy mining town in Scotland with my partner, took early retirement and moved here (running computer/graphics companies started to drain me, so gave up)
Andy (Johnag) recommended the site as small and friendly ... just what i'm looking for to be honest.
I've had a decent look around since i joined a couple of days ago and i like what i see (friendly, good quality modeling, no rivet counters and no childish silliness)
I'll have a bash at anything, although my aircraft let me down drastically (and don't seem to improve either)
My main focus is scratch building and dioramas at the moment i'm finishing off a 4ft x 3ft diorama based in Korea, and is based around the (brilliant) series M*A*S*H.
First question to admin/mods is .......
shall i just bang a load of photos into this thread showing what i do, or would you prefer a single thread for each in relevant sections?
Thats it for now, i tried not to be too boring on first contact :-)

Hi Colin and a warm welcome to Skid's Place.
Big MASH fan here so I'd love to see your ongoing dio.
As to posting photos, we'll leave it up to you. If any are ongoing works in progress, perhaps you could also post them in the relevant forums when you next have an update for them.

Wee-elcome! Glad to have another member. As for fotos, things get slow at these forums sometimes and I feel a few fotos at a time stretches things out and keeps members and visitors coming back. Whatever your taste whether box stock models or superdetailed and kitbashed ones, we luv 'em all!

Re: Hi all from Scotland
Thanks for the warm welcome chaps.
I'll put the MASH diorama in the "under construction" forum as its still ongoing, nice to see there's a few fans on here....
that MASH chopper is great, hard to find the kit in stock round here in 1/35th (i don't do ebay)
John, no problem for the info ... i'm a mind of useless info till it becomes needed (as Andy will attest to)
Sam ... i'm English (midlander) and am just up here infiltrating and waiting for the revolution.
Heres a few odds and sods, if anyone wants to see more of a model then i'll put it in the relevant forum (if Andy can think of anything i've done thats worthy of putting up here, then speak up sir)
Done a few cars (they seem to be popular here)... will get some photos, pop them up in the relevant forum and you can have a chuckle at them.

Thank you, it's 1/35th scale (ish)Skid wrote:Love Starbug Colin.
completely scratch built using round polystyrene balls from the hobby shop and a selection of "scrap" from the bits tubs.
It'll only be the same as last time it was up...... build a wall to keep out the Caledonians .... a race famous for their ladder building heh heh heh hehSkid wrote:May not be so far away. Roll on independence...... then we can re-erect 'The Wall'

Re: Hi all from Scotland
Nice mix of subjects Colin - the cargo ship looks huge - what scale is it ?

Re: Hi all from Scotland
Nice comments guys, appreciated.
Ron, the ship is my take on a crab boat, based on those in the deadliest catch series... Specifically the "Cornelia Marie"
It's completely scratch built (balsa mainly) and is 44inches long at 1/35 scale.
It's yet to be finished off and needs some figures and lots more weathering, I'll get round to it one day Heh heh.

Re: Hi all from Scotland
I have a liking for boats - my ex-RN father got me into modelling,
and he scratch-built several ships in balsa: Tugs, Trawlers, PT boats etc.
Nice model !
