Hi everyone. Pete S is here now. Glad to see the familiar faces, and will try my best to add to the quality of the model posts on this forum.

My history for modeling goes back to childhood. I took a break when the kids were young (they are now 31 and 33), but have been back in it for years. I used to work at Freightliner as an engineer, but am now retired. I love to attend model contests, and plan to attend GSL in a couple of months with the Sterling Race Truck. I love scratch building, as it really challenges me to try new methods and materials.

I have a customized/restored 1959 VW bug as my 1:1 toy. This car was first owned by my dad when new, and I learned to drive on it. It is now back in the stable :D . I am a VW addict.

I also enjoy photography as a hobby. Have a D90 DSLR, so I will try to get good photos posted here.

My other passion is cycling (bicycles). I am a part-time tour leader for a bicycle tour company. As I have several tours during the summer cycling season, my modeling takes a hiatus during the summer. My first tour as a rider will be in two weeks in San Diego. I will be leading tours this summer in the Columbia River Gorge, Anchorage to Denali in Alaska, the Oregon Coast, and the Sierras and Wine Country in California. It will be a busy summer :shock: !

I lived all my life in Oregon, and know the Gorge and Coast well. You will enjoy it !!

Sam, I live in Beaverton, OR, so I am well familiar with the Gorge and Coast. This will be my fourth year leading the tour on the Coast, and the third in the Gorge. They are great places!

2wl, my plans are to visit family in Oceanside and Carlsbad on 3/16, as I grew up there. The group meets for the tour in Chula Vista on Sunday early afternoon, 3/17. Tour goes from Chula Vista to Julian, to Borrego Springs (stay there 3 nights), then day ride to Salton Sea and back, a layover day, then back to Chula Vista via Julian on some different roads. Going to be fun!
