Re: Martini Porsche 935
Thanks guys
I finished my first ever set of p/e belts.
Then I intalled them. I have to make some bolt heads for the anchor points before I put the cage in.
I have a question for the more experienced out there. How do I get the belts to lay down like real ones??? I was thinking of using a bit of white glue on the back of them and holding them down until the glue sets.
You mean the bent coat hangers? LOL High-tech stuff there!!Shelby wrote:That's looking nice Paul and hopefully it is your last coat on it. I see you had to make a stand because of the large scale.

Those belts look so real Paul. Nice one.
That's exactly what I do Paul, only I use CA. You'll be holding them down a long time waiting for white glue to set!!!!

The belts look really sharp Paul.
I disagree with my contrepart Al on this. A small slide of the belt or finger will ruin your seat with CA. Put some white glue on both the belt and seat and run a hair dryer on them to get the glue tacky and put them together. This will speed up the process quite a bit.

Re: Martini Porsche 935
For quick gluing, there are clear, very thick tube glues around. Going by names like "shoo goop" and some sold at craft stores, it needs to be applied in tiny amounts with a toothpick, but like contact cement dries pretty fast. Downside is slow to apply and it can leave those tiny threads if pulled up to move.
All else here looks superior. In the large scale those belts look fantastic!

Re: Martini Porsche 935
Thanks for the comments guys. I've got some Aleene's craft glue, which is a thick fast setting white glue which dries clear. I'll be using that.
I haven't stuck the belts down yet. I've been working on the dash. First pic....I used a silver marker to 'paint' the bezels and guage faces. Then I put the decals on. In the last pic, the bottom right gauge has had Testor's Clear Parts Cement and Window Maker put on to the guage. It was just done, so the cement hasn't dried and turned clear yet.

Man some really nice detail painting and work your doing on this kit. The engine and suspension pieces look spectacular. I'm deff. wanting to buy one of these kits now that I've seen the details of the kit. Keep up the great work.
