Custom Chopper, Revell, 1/12
doing this for a Motorcycle GB elsewhere, although im not going to be able to actually do anything for a few days
i was going to do a Tamiya Suzuki Katana but i picked this up on ebay a week ago. i love these kits by Revell, done several over the years, in fact ive even done Aces Wild before
dont plan on doing this one as the box art tho......thinking of metallic green at the moment with the black/green decals
the nice thing about these kits is the options you get..........2 tanks, 2 sets of wheels, 2 primary covers and air filters, 2 different decal choices.....and since ive done a few in the past of got plenty of spares to mix 'n match

Re: Custom Chopper, Revell, 1/12
finally managed to get some bench time and make some progress
didnt like the air filters that come with this.....its a choice of a ace of spades or maltese cross designs, so i stole one off an old one of these bikes i did years ago, its round and had a flame design which has been sanded off, and then de-chromed
wasnt too fussed about the primary cover either as it also had the same sort of designs....so i found a spare in the bits box, sanded that smooth and im going to try spraying it silver........or matt black
not sure about the paint........i love the colour but it hasnt gone on too well......think its a combination of the hot weather and the can being a bit low pressure for some reason (unused but old can). going to give it til tomorrow to dry well, a light sanding then the cans going to get a mega shaking followed by a sit in hot water to boost the pressure

Re: Custom Chopper, Revell, 1/12
thanks guys
ive already got the rear wheel in and im trying to decide on which exhaust system to use. the ones i wanted to use dont fit very well, and im not too impressed with the alternative set that come in the kit, so im looking at some in the spares box that were left over from previous kits
ive also sprayed the forks with some humbrol chrome...........theres a couple of injection points halfway down the forks, of course once you remove them you have also knackered the chrome, so i was looking for a way to get round it, saw a can of the chrome in MZ today and thought id give it a go

Re: Custom Chopper, Revell, 1/12
its gone all a bit pete tong
the forks have injection gate points half way down, so of course when you remove them from the sprue you remove some of the chrome.......so i decided to mask off the lowest bit to keep the chrome, sand off the chrome on the upper bits (gets rid of a parting line too) and respray with humbrol chrome.....worked a treat..........fitted the forks to the frame and damaged the yellow paint,....so i masked up and touched up the yellow......just got a tiny bit of overspray and whilst cleaning that up i damaged the humbrol chrome!!! aarrrghh!!
im just going to have to live with it
wheels on, zorst on, seat on

"Slowly getting there"
You'll be finished long before the bike I started back in April, Paul.
It's looking very nice, you don't see a lot of these kits around here.
