Riley & Scott 1999 Daytona Winner
Well, the box doesn't say much about it. But it does say Oldsmobile" on the bottom, so I guess it must be Olds powered. It's a 1/43rd resin kit so it doesn't have an engine in it anyway. So far I have just painted the white, and now the red in the center. It's masked for the blue paint and after a week of drying I will mask over the red so I can paint the blue. Because where you see the white now will be painted blue.

The 1999 Daytona 24 Hour winner and 5th place Riley & Scott's were powered by Ford. Nice unusual build.

What an unusual scale. This looks to be interesting.

Here's more photos. I painted the red center. The kit actually has a red decal for it but I doubt it would have laid down too well as it is an old kit and it may fall apart trying to conform it to the contour even with decal solution. So it was actually easier to mask and paint the red. And now I just did the blue. First I did the masking for the blue and then I put the masking for the red over it. After the red was painted I had the mask already in place for the blue, then I just masked over the red. I painted the blue in two stages. I just used paint I already had. I made a base from Testors Cobalt Blue which is flat, then I painted Testors True Blue Pearl over it. It looks like a really good match to the photos on the instruction sheet. Oh, I also glued the PE wing together and painted it the same way:
Here is the cockpit too, pretty simple. The instrument panel is a separate piece, I just have to apply a decal on it for the panel itself.

A very nice blue, indeed. I like the fact that the wing is in PE - looks more 'in scale'.

Coming along very nicely! I agree that the PE wing is very much more in scale and the colours are wonderfully rich.

Looks like a slot car. I dabbled a bit with a Le Mans slat car a few years back. Still sitting here on my bench waiting for a motor.
