Nice work Johnny. Is the engine yellow a correct colour?

Re: AMT 58 Edsel Pacer
I also mistakenly painted the interior the wrong blue!
The body was put away in a box to cure and I should have pulled it out before starting the rest of the build.

Enuf time has passed so the '50s "dreamboats" of our parents' don't look so . . . well, big and colorful! Thanx for putting one up here. Best to you in progress!

Guess I was just a weird kid because I loved the Edsel (and all those big boats!) from the first time I saw one!

Re: AMT 58 Edsel Pacer
Thanx for the comments. I wanted to be a car designer in the '50s and early '60s. The cars just looked "normal" to me, tho there were always a number of foreign "oddities" (I fondly remember seeing my first MG-TC). Later, when I understood the minor differences in cars and the so-so reliability (planned obsolescence), I became disillusioned. Of course the mid '60s onward helped us all relearn practicality. Even at Detroit when the economy hit a downturn, they made smaller cars. Heck, we're still learning!

I only know of Edsels as part of the urban folklore around the 1950's motor vehicles (and that Richie Cunningham's dad owned one) but yours looks beautiful.

The blue on the body is perfect, perhaps some light blue or grey pigments could give the interior a bit of 'patina'. I think the contrast between the blues will look good though.

Looks clean. What did you use to thin the craft paints for spraying?

The body is spay can paints. The blue is Krylon and the white Testors lacquer.
The rest are Testors bottle enamels.
