Loving the whole idea and that diesel engine is truly a monstrosity. Excellent mod work, don't ya just love Evergreen (and Plastruct as well to be fair). Can't wait to see what happens next

Re: AMT 32 Ford Viky Rat Rod The "Viky D"
Starting work on the front suspension. The cool thing is this kit comes with two different front axles. I'll be using the upturned one that lowers the front of the car.
I love this profile...
I had to make more room for the rear wheels with the lower stance
Before
After
Time to make some bomber seats. To do this I took the rear of the kits front seats as a base
Using some very thin evergreen styrene I created some sides for the seats
Using some more evergreen I made some ribs for the back of the seats. They still need to be trimmed and then sanded down a bit to make them less prominent
Adding some color
Thanks for looking, till next time...

Can't get over the look of that monster motor in that chassis.

Thanks, I have to admit I'm quite pleased myself and that rarely happens with my own builds

Time to move onto that big ole Diesel motor. In this first picture you can see the original position of the tube feeding off the turbo. Its going up and over. I removed this elbow and re-routed it to go under the turbo.
Before
After
I painted the motor using craft acrylics using a color that closely matched some photos of original diesels
Using some evergreen styrene tube I started playing with the plumbing for the turbo. The location of the tube is completely for effect, not function. The idea came from one of the cars that inspired this build.
Till next time...

With a motor as big as this one the driver needs a little bit of safety. Time to build a roll bar

Awesome work going on! That truly monstrous monster engine is evolving into a true slab of intimidation. The stance with your test fit of the engine to the chassis is just great. Love the idea for the bomber seats, while I'm at it. Looking forward to the further developments.

A tall, make that very tall, engine makes for serious challenges. Good luck with it and choices what to weather and what to leave shiny.

Re: AMT 32 Ford Viky Rat Rod The "Viky D"
Time to paint. As you saw in my last batch of pictures I laid down a base of semi gloss black paint. I let that dry for about a week and then prep-ed for the next color. Toreador Red from the Dupli-color line of paints. But before I laid that down I had to prep the body. To do this for the finish I want I got some coarse salt, wet the body and applied the salt. Once the water evaporated the salt stuck. I then applied the red color. The cool night air made the color haze but thats ok. We can adjust that later if need be
Time to let this dry.
Thanks for looking and until next time...

Re: AMT 32 Ford Viky Rat Rod The "Viky D"
After a couple days of drying time I rubbed off the salt
With the salt off I wet sanded the entire body to smooth out the paint and edges. I also added primer to the chop lines
Next I turned to the grill shell. I wanted to add some contrast to the model so using the same salt technique over black paint I sprayed the shell yellow
Thanks for looking,
Till next time.....
