The thin tape striping looks awesome and I can't believe how thin you got it after the grinding. Bummer about the design issue - been there myself and remember it un-fondly - but kudo's for committing to it right away and stripping the paint. This feels like one of those 'stare at the thing for long periods of time' situations but I look forward to whatever you decide to do.

Keep going Curt, you'll find something that works. Maybe third time lucky.

Yikes!
Go much narrower and you'll be heading into the realm of using thick hair for masking, lol.

Lol, I am going to try Kats. Just have to get some time on the surfacing machine at work. I do have an idea for some super thin pin striping, at this point it is nothing more then a thought.

You have the talent to bring out your special style with paint! I look at your pin stripe tape and remember they once sold tape by mail as narrow as 1/32. That's getting into the realm of tiny!

Looks like I missed a coupe of episodes on this one. Nice recovery. The lace looks very crisp.

Thanks Mitch, it's on the back burner for now. I have a couple other things to get done first.

The subtle shading and overall tone remind me of CGI work, amazing result!

Thanks Kats, it has been a challenge to get it this far. Paint problem after problem. My damn ADHD has also been really bad as of late.
A partial mock up with the wheels. The colour had to be changed on them to better match the paint scheme. The trim and bumpers will be painted the same colour as the darker blue on the rims. This colour was achieved with a layer of three colours, turquoise, a couple coats of candy yellow, topped off with a few coats of candy blue.
A few more coats of clear and a good polish will bring out the depth of the paint. I keep having to remind myself, "it's just a shelf model, a real dogs breakfast get on with it".
