Re: Junk/Rat Rod
The exhaust looks pretty cool.
What does it say across the top of the grill?

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
Lol, ok ok....
. I decided to do an interior, I have cast some seats, yellow is the master, and the black one was cast with black tinted added to the resin. I stripped the rear wheels, I also cast those.
I took the roof off to get a better perspective on the fitting of the interior. The dash is from a dodge RT wagon, the tranny tunnel is out is a Malibu SS, I will be casting that as well.
Making tranny tunnels can be a real pain when scratching up and interior, the seats are from a Revell world of out law winged sprint car. I cast the seat simply because it is a great seat to use in this situations do was super simpleand quick. I had the mold made and the first part cast in just under an hour. Now I have an endless source for that seat style.
I also filled in the exhaust with 2part sculpting resin/clay.
How's that, good enough Al? h

Well..... lemme think. OK, I'll let you off...................... this time!!
Those seats look great Curt. Nice one. looking forward to seeing your tranny casting.
Not too sure about the Dodge RT dash though!

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
Thanks Al, ya it kinda looks out of place. I might slap something else in there. It's too tall, me thinks. I'll trim some off the bottom first.

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
I think the dash is a take it or leave it kind of deal. Never hurts to have a touch of the new with the old. It is a Rat Rod so anything in the junk yard works. LOL

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
I don't think and air bag has a place in a rat rod...
I would cut out the gauge cluster and the steering wheel mount and trash the rest of the dash.
I would paint it all brass with black gauges because it would kind of look like brass knuckles...

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
Curt: I go along with what seems to be the general opinion of the dash. To my mind it doesn't fit in this rat rod. My problem is I can't think of anything significantly better. If it were me I would probably look at a 40 Ford, 49 Merc or one of the tri-five Chevys. For what it's worth. John

Re: Junk/Rat Rod
Well, I ain't complainin' 'bout nothin', 'cept maybe this is looking too nice to be labeld junk or rat.
However, it is interesting your comment about tinting the resin for the cast seat. What did you tint the resin with? When I did my little bit of casting, I was leery of adding anything to the resin mix for fear of compromising it ! Hell, I would have cast all those tires in color if I hadn't been so cheap to experiment with those expensive materials. The casting alone was risky enough ! lol But it sure was exciting to see a new casting come from the molds !
