Jaguar XJ220
next thing on the bench
doing this for a GB somewhere else where the theme is 'Big Cats'......since its predominantly a military forum, there lots of Puma and Lynx helos and the odd Jaguar jet...............i was going to do a Panther tank but ive got a big armour project coming up soon so didnt want to do one.......so as Clarkson used to say......'cos its a Jaaaaaag!'
picked this up for a fiver at the Newark auto jumble a few years ago, found it amongst all sorts of junk on a stall, dont think the guy realised it was worth more than the £5
im thinking of BRG for a colour at the moment

Re: Jaguar XJ220
Built this one a few years ago Paul. Interior and engine are very nice but watch out for the rear side windows, but tricky dickie IIRC,

I have this kit too Lol
Good luck mate and another thing to remember is that the wing mirrors are in different places on these... Eagle eyed Colin mentioned it on our former member D's post of the white one he built.. Go go go!!

Re: Jaguar XJ220
Hi Paul,
One of the very few super cars that I like, when I was at Brize we used to see them on the local roads being road tested, I eventually got to have a really good look around one in Ireland, there was a dealership in Belfast called Charles Hurst, it was big place, they sold all sorts there, different makes of cars and motorbikes, they also had a specialised vehicle showroom, Fiats (Ferraris), Aston Martins, Rolls Royce etc, and there was an XJ in Black, it looked the doggie dangles...
So, am in on this build if that's ok...

Its a jag ... it looks good .... its iconic ....
However, track day ... oulton park .... fast as **** ....handles like poo .... if anyone knows what "capri syndrome" is .. it kicked the same when you gunned it but then suffered understeer on the slightest push round a corner.
I'm in on this build too ... love jags, even the crap ones lol

Jags have always been cool, among the best of the breed. I have one or two of the U.S. amt/ertl kits. Good luck!

Re: Jaguar XJ220
I like this car but always hated the wheel choice that Jag made. Looks like it has wheel covers on it.
It takes away from the look of the car.

Re: Jaguar XJ220
I have often wondered about this kit. This will be a great chance to look it over.

A "guest" did this one here. Finished builds, road cars, page 2. He too changed wheels from disk look to spoked design

Re: Jaguar XJ220
well, unfortunatly this isnt going to get finished :(
came to attached the shell to the chassis and at some point when i added the engine compartment to the chassis i made a slight misallignement and the shell just will not go on.
not an easy fix cos of how it goes together and when i tried the whole thing exploded! i cant face trying to cobble it back together again
im disappointed cos the one reason ive put off doing this kit since i got it is the masking of all the glass (i hate masking!) but i made a passable job of it, and i even got a nice finish on the body shell.......but hey ho, not often i feck up a kit this badly and it only cost me a fiver in the first place....first time for a long time that my sig gets a C=1 lol
sorry guys......on to the next one!

Re: Jaguar XJ220
Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear this Sir, is there no way you could turn it into a scrap yard car for a dio, or even turn it into a Mad Max type vehicle...

lol.....when i say exploded, i really do mean exploded, bits went all over! i can see i will keep the shell as it might come in useful, as well as stuff like the wheels and engine and seats

Bummer Paul I was just catching up with this one. At least the money you spent was worth the parts.

Re: Jaguar XJ220
Massive area of glass and sides curving inward at bottom can make for risk. But then, famous actor Dick Van Dyke had his real Jaguar catch fire and burn to the ground. Could it be . . . because they're Jags?
