Junking or making a beater out of a PU Is cool. Just weren't meant to be trailer queens.

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
The wear and tear is looking great so far, John. Don't forget to wear the paint out at the tops of the fenders. My dad had a '53 Dodge that had a nice shiny paint job, but the fenders were rubbed through at the tops from him leaning over the engine compartment a lot.
The black primer even looked good when it was waxed.

Don't know how you can get these rust buckets to look so good(?) so fast. Have to disagree with Al on the seam though. While the Revell seam is deeper than it should be that is a panel joint that Ford didn't try very hard to hide.

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
I think now the body is pretty much done. There will probably be a little more weathering as the build progresses, but I want to stop before I get to the point of having too much.
The body may or may not need further work. At the present time I am moving on to the engine and chassis. As I am not using the flathead with the Ardun heads on this build I may have to do some fabrication to install the 40 Ford flathead that I am using. We shall see what we shall see.

Very, very good - like the missing letter off the front panel - nice touch!

Looks just like it has been sitting in the desert sun John! Nice work.

Very nice John. Besides the missing letter on the front, I also like the broken grille bar. Another nice realistic touch! Great job on the weathering.

Hi John,
Very, very nice Sir, may I ask if you could maybe do a 'how to' on how you aged the body please, when you have a spare moment...

Andy: Unfortunately I didn't take progress photos when painting the truck. I will try to put together a step by step without photos in the next day or so. Got some family matters going so I will have to work this in.

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
Got some progress made.
The chassis and wheels are 80% done. I am going to have to fabricate the exhaust system. The chassis and the wheels were aged using clear flat acryl and real rust.
The body is virtually done. Aging was done with clear flat acryl, real rust and Bragdon powders. There is still detail work to be done, but not much else.
This is probably it for the next week or so. A new great-granddaughter arrived last night and G-Gramma (SWMBO) says we are going to get acquainted.

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
The kit exhaust leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the real deal........
...... (can you guess which is which?? LOL) so something needed to be done to achieve a little more realistic effect. Not finished but on it's way:
The kit was second hand off eBay and had been started. As a result, there are at least two parts missing. The first is the little angled dizzy attachment that fits on the cambox. So I had to make one up. Fiddly, but not difficult.
The other know missing part is the right rear engine mout which will, I think, be quite difficult to replicate, so I may just make two scratch built ones instead.

Sam: He does that occasionally, but I think it's still okay to let him out by himself.

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
John, so you switched your pickup engine to a Bugatti straight 8? Seems like you might have to yank out the grille to get the thing to settle in.
Seriously John excellent work all around. The drive shaft seems to be angled. Is it the photo or an issue with the kit?

Re: 1950 Ford Pickup
Kit issue Dave. Not too noticible when the body is in place.
CORRECTION--CORRECTION!!!
Not a kit issue Dave --- A John issue.
Installed the rear end upside down. And to think I inferred that Al is senile. Sorry Al.
