Thanks Clay. I wouldn't fancy wiring anything smaller. It was a bitch to wire. In hindsight, by adding the carb, manifolds and air filter first, I made things difficult for myself!!  Mile End Garage. - Page 2 4039365958

Remember 'Dodgy Denis' from my 1:48 'Tilly' build?........... well he's been at the old 'flash over' paint job again.

If the paint looks a bit rough in places....... it's meant to. When built it will be weathered.

Mockup:

Incidentally, the fit on this kit is so good, there is nothing holding the mockup together except the fit itself!!

Cracking kit!

Yes I am Buck.

Apart from a wash when it's installed in the chassis and some rusting on the manifolds, this is as far as the engine detailing is going.

My hand went a bit wibbly wobbly painting the fan belt but that part can't be seen when the body is on.

Great work on the engine paint, Al.

The body is really a cool little piece I'm sure you'll have fun finishing.

Thanks guys.

Mike.... the weathering is way off yet. Once it's built I'll lay it aside and do all the weathering for the whole dio at the same time.

Been testing the old eyes again by wiring the battery!!!!  Mile End Garage. - Page 2 50283314

She's now up on her wheels. Gear lever broke so I had to make a new one!! Hey ho!!

It's a fabulous little kit and well detailed but oddly, the steering column goes nowhere!!!

Coming on nicely, could you mangle some sort of steering rack together if you're leaving under the bonnet visible?

A very nice job on a rather nice kit. Great to have the detail, opening doors and hood in that scale.

Keep up the good work, Al.

This diorama is bringing back all sorts of memories for me already.
In the fifties small garages widely used ex-WD vehicles as recovery and service vehicles :
Austin and Bedford, and very commonly Chevrolet CMP trucks were used as wreckers,
with pre-war cars rusting away in adjacent buildings and fields.

...great subject Al !

Yes...many of my early cars were towed home behind an ex-army breakdown truck.

You got it right there Ron.

Remember punctures?? Rare occasion these days. Common back then. And winter driving in anything from 1-5' of snow!!! Brrrrrr!!!

Thumb pumped screen washers if you had washers at all. Vacuum screen wipers... the faster you drove the slower they went. Heaters that didn't.

Winter mornings praying the car would start!!!!

The diorama is coming along nicely, Seems like when you add one thing two or three crop up that will make it better.

I can remember almost all of the same things. Vacuum wipers were one of the worst ideas ever.

Don't get me started...today kids NEVER put oil in their cars, let alone change it.
..and have never had to change a starter bendix under a street light, in pouring winter rain.
ahhh, fond memories ??...thanks to your thread !

Top man Gary. Got it book marked. Many thanks.

Interestingly, they don't do the Tilly kit!!

OK.... the Tilly is finished for now so here is a mockup as she is at the moment:

Mile End Garage. - Page 2 00178

Mile End Garage. - Page 2 00349

Mile End Garage. - Page 2 00555

The AM bits will take about a month to arrive, so when they do, I'll paint them, add them to the kit, then put it to one side to do the weathering at a later date.

I've driven cars in 1:1 that felt like that!

Back on topic, it's looking damn good. That ute kit is a little honey- from your pics you'd never guess it was 1/35th.
