Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
As much as BMF costs today, will definitely have to give this a try. Thanks!

Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
Okay I have made some progress on this one and wanted to share it. Happy new Year. My first update of 2014. Got the interior done. I might add some black seat belts. That is what the car would have had from the factory. Most of the muscle cars had a black everything interior. I think it made them cheaper to produce.
I have used Black flock for carpets that doesn't show in these pictures.
Also did a mockup to adjust the stance. Here is how it stands now.
Gonna sit this aside now and start on the WW I Community Build #3. Probably be working on both until one is finished.

Hi Mr Z,
Love the stance, may I ask, have you use decals for the gauges and radio or did you paint them...

Andy the gauges are some I found at a hobby shop in Portland. They are printed on paper. Bob Paeth took me to the hobby show on one of the visits I made to his home. I don't remember what I was looking for but found them. They are for Military Models, but tucked in like these are you can't tell te difference. I think I have one uncut sheet of them. If I do I will scan it into the computer and prnit them out. The rest is hand painted.

It's looking good Buck.
A level stance on these big old boats looks much better methinks.
Me is also interested in the gauges Buck.

Gauges and foil do look good. Wouldn't mind a set of gauges myself.

Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
Don I will look around and see it I can find the uncut sheet of gauges. If I can then I will scan it in and email you a scan. then you can print them out to what ever size you like. Give me a couple days.

Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
That does work if you find a site with good hi res pictures. Most are low res and when you reduce the size the detail goes away. With a scan on my scanner I can control resolution and get a good crisp photo.

Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
Thanks Buck. I've tried this several times. Sometime it works, most times, not so much. I have found it works better just printing on plain white paper and using either transparent tape or Future for a lens works better than trying to make a decal.

Been there and done that Ron. But as the guys say, it's so so at best. Try it and you will see for yourself.

Re: 1966 Buick Wildcat
With Community Build #3 behind me I decided to finish this one up before going back to the Blue Max Funny cars.
This kit has the simple one piece chassis that I hate. If I was building this to show I would change all this, but I am so I ain't.
Instead I hand painted the things that needed detailed, frame, rear end, front sway bar, exhaust and gas tank. When I was all done it looked like this.
All that was left to do was drill and wire the distributor. I don't know why I drug my feet on this I have done it quite a few times and it's not all that hard to do anymore. The more you do things the easier it is to do them.
So now that it's at that point I will be able to finish it up. Probably not going to be another update before the NMA. Thanks for looking in and following along. All questions and comments are welcome.

Looking very good, for sure! The foil idea was tried way back when, but at that time neither rubber cement nor contact cement were very good. It looks like you've got a good thing going!
