Re: 1935 Morgan
I have replaced some rivets around the cockpit that got hurt during the body cleanup.
Ready for the (hopefully) final color coat of color.

It's almost there, folks. Assembling with the final details.
Brings up my occasional rant. Mold and die makers go to such extremes to make exquisite parts, but take no effort to locate sprue attachments where they will not disfigure the parts yet remain compatible with manufacturing procedures. You'd think some one in those model companys would recognize that !

Re: 1935 Morgan
Well said Clay. I couldn't agree more. Saddest case I ever saw was the Chrome tree in the revell Orange Crate.

Re: 1935 Morgan
I agree with that too...many a chrome part has been spoilt by poorly located sprue joints.

Re: 1935 Morgan
Yep. Us ordinary modelers with limited funds just can't afford to repair, remount correctly, and then send chrome parts out to be rechromed.
I believe many years ago the industry started with a toy attitude, but as the parts got more detailed to museum like quality, the casting process remained in the dark ages.

Re: 1935 Morgan
I remember reading somewhere on how the dies need to be set at a certain size and "big" parts need to fit into spaces, then the smaller ones get put in later in the design. The idea that [u]how[u] a piece is mounted on the tree matters little and the reality is for a significant part of the builders if a spot is missing chrome, a dab of silver paint will do is good enough. In the big picture, pricing and overall kit detail, fit and quality matter most and always will. The Morgan will look excellent with the improvements.

Re: 1935 Morgan
Mega close to finishing up.
As long as I have been giving a running account of this assembly, I'll confess I did a little cheating today. I am so able to cheat with a clear conscience.
I missed the location of the front end somehow, and the rear lower fender mount didn't match up. The bottom bracket comes out as part of the frame casting and is flexible forward some, but not that much. I extended it with a piece of aluminum tubing. The front of the fender slips down in a hole on the upper A arm.

Re: 1935 Morgan
If I'm right in thinking - all Morgan's were handmade, (and still are)
and you can bet there were several differences between each car produced back in 1935,
so any alterations and modifications you do could still be period correct.
Great job !

Hi Mr GM,
I have been following this make it's way from kit to model, I do like how you only show us only small sections at a time, it builds the suspense...

Re: 1935 Morgan
So grateful for the many posts and fine fotos! Thanx for letting us look over your shoulder on each build. We are entertained and learn a lot about how to "see" a model and make improvements as well as kitbashing. Thanx again!

Re: 1935 Morgan
Very cool looking build! It would be fun to mod this into some crazy far out custom! You've done a great job on this Geezerman.
