Decided to put this in road cars as a grand tourer and not a race car.It is the Protar/Revell 1:24 kit and I am doing it pretty much oob,the colour is Ford dark aubergine and it is cleared with polyurethane clear.
Playing catchup so I will let the pics do the talking. :bounce:
Sorry for burning your eyes out with fezzer pics.. :affraid:

Nigel: Are those kit wheels?? They look great. Also the engine is outstanding. When you get around to it how about a photo of the box art so I can look for it. Got a couple of ideas for that engine.

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO.
It's looking good Nige. The front suspension looks just as tricky over here too. LOL

Nice start Nige. I'd like a dozen sets of those wheels, so many things they'd look good under.

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO.
I'm not familiar with the kit, but those wire wheels are the best I ever saw if they came from the kit. Frame too looks excellent. I built an old "Aurora" Ferrari 275 (I think) and I thought that was good. This seems at least on par with it. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I wonder if it's old or a recent new or reissue kit. I have to say again those wheels are top rate!

Wheels, oh those wheels. Spectacular. To me the combination of wire spokes with an alloy rim is 11 out of 10. Love 'em.
Keep the pics comming Nigel.
Cheers,
Chris

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO.
Great looking model. The 250 GTO is one of my favorite Ferraris.
Is that an "upside down" filter on the front of the engine. Messy to change!
I also love those wire wheels. They are beautiful. Just took a wheel truing class last week (for my bicycle trips), but don't think I would like to attempt truing these  .

They are fantastically delicate and I had to be careful assembling them so as to not break them.harron68 wrote:I'm not familiar with the kit, but those wire wheels are the best I ever saw if they came from the kit. John asked me for the box art so he can snag one himself, the kit is pretty old and is ex Protar.

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO.
Well today I got a couple of bits done, got distracted by a Star Trek movie.......
There are two exhaust systems in the kit,a long and a short. So went for the short as I am not building a specific Fezzer.
Plus I foiled and fitted the headlight buckets, lenses and covers. These were held in place by Ford clearcoat, only the best is used on Ferrari's.. :bounce:
Sorry, had to nip off for a second there.Thought I heard an electrical whirring noise and thought something was going wrong.Turned out it was old man Enzo spinning in his grave! :lol!:
I tried it on some scrap a few weeks ago and it doesn't fog clear plastic, blends nicely with a lacguer clear coat and is dead handy for sticking those small parts in place too.

Hmm. I've used Clear Coat before to hold parts too but didn't know it wouldn't fog clear parts. Something to try. Your "Fezzer" is lookin' great! LoL Yeah I can imagine Ole Enzo is rollin'. 8)

Re: Ferrari 250 GTO.
If you ever enter the 250 in a model contest, don't be surprised if later you see the wheels gone and the car up on 1/25 scale blocks! It sure is looking good. Thanx for good fotos!
